Title: Wireless router interference.
Post by: KF7ATL on December 07, 2013, 08:12:53 AM
Not sure if this topic has been posted before. For as long as I could remember, I had a high level of QRN on my 2 meter radio. I also had loud unexplained carriers on several HF frequencies. I knew the problem was in my house, because it disappeared when I went mobile. In retrospect I should have put the radio on battery power and systematically turned off one circuit breaker at a time until I located the source of the problem, but I didn't (Hindsight is 20/20, right?). In fact, I didn't figure it out until I changed internet providers. As soon as the new provider came online, the noise problem stopped. I think it was the wireless router from the old provider that was the source of the QRN. Lesson learned. I hope this helps someone else. Check to see if your router could be the source of the noise.
