Title: Curious: when did Icom change their logo?
Post by: KJ6ZOL on May 20, 2014, 06:32:14 PM
I was wondering because I recently happened across a IC-735 for sale in Roseburg, Oregon:

You'll notice that it has the modernized Icom logo and labeling font. The 735 I have has an older Icom logo, an ellipse with a large vertical bar through the middle, and an older labeling font. I know that the 735 was made between 1985 and 1994. I also know that most manuals for it that you'll find online have the older logo. I was curious as to when Icom updated their logo and styling.

I feel sorry for whomever buys this. It has met the "golden screwdriver" from the quote,"11 meter chip installed."

There is no '11m chip' for the Icom-735. The modification involves replacing crystals X8 and X9 on the premix board.

Buyer beware!

LOL, I didn't notice the "11m chip" business. I noticed, also, that he didn't post a pic of it working. I can only guess what he's done to it.

Icom was handing out stickers at Dayton that had their logos over the years on it. Started out as "Inoue" or something, and has changed 4-5 times over the course of their business history.

I know they did change logos during the production run of the Icom 751A-as you see some with the old logo, and others with the new logo. The 737 which replaced the 751A came out in 1993 or so, so it happened before that.  I think the 725 has the new logo on it, and QST reviewed it in 1990, I believe.
