1  eHam Forums / Digital / Cheap TNC on: February 08, 2007, 06:13:09 PM
Hello,
I'm fairly new to these forums. I've been lurking for a while, but rarely post.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys knew of a cheap way to get involved in packet? I'm very low on cash, so any idea is appreciated. I've already looked around and found some adapters that utilize the USB port and sound card, but am wondering if there were any other alternatives?

Thank you,
Ross
2  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / I can see why there isn't much Linux Support... on: February 08, 2007, 12:32:11 PM
Yeah, check out Ubuntu. It was, and is my first distro and I'm definitely not ever going back to windoze. The support is amazing, and free. If you have a slower computer, check out xubuntu.

Another interesting Distro is Damn Small Linux. It is only 50 MB but is still a complete OS. It runs from a cd, but you have the option to install it to HD, and still only use 50 MB.

3  eHam Forums / Misc / Listen to ham radio live on the web... on: February 08, 2007, 08:10:34 AM
Have you guys ever checked out this one?

http://www.w4mq.com/

It's different in that it allows you to transmit. It covers all ham bands, and almost all modes.
