There are so many of you w/o cards that I'm rethinking my idea I was blacklisted for criticizing the guys who handled the money.  I will send the QSL manager an email at the end of the month if I still have not received it.

73,

Chris/NU1O

I sent the QSL manager an email after Vinnie said he got a reply but I did not get a reply to my Email after a week and still no QSL!  It's F***ing frustrating since I am on the website as a contributor.

SECOND E-MAIL REQUEST:  Please Respond

Hello:

I am writing to you again to ask as to the status of my OQRS request for a ZL9HR QSL Card from my December qso listed below.  This OQRS was made on New Years Day with the Receipt No: 3158-3203-3549-9568.  It included money for return postage and a small donation to the expedition effort.  It is now late-April, and many other people I have talked to on-line have received their cards using the ZL9HR OQRS.  I would appreciate an immediate reply from you as to the status of my request, as the money covering postage and a donation sent via the paypal was extracted from my credit card.  You will see that this is true with the PDF of my credit card statement attached with this second e-mail.  Also below is a copy of the e-mail acknowledgement from Paypal from January 1, 2013 when the OQRS request was made.  This Paypal statement was sent to you in my initial e-mail of April 16, which went unanswered. Your kindest and prompt response to this request would be greatly appreciated.  We are over 4 months in waiting for a ZL9HR card from an OQRS request, while others who have qsled the same way received their cards. Again, please respond with the status of my card, so I can confirm my ZL9HR qso from December of last year as this is an all time new country for me.  Many thanks for your cooperation.

33  eHam Forums / DXing / Please Identify....another disturbing trend.... on: May 03, 2013, 09:35:33 AM
Is there any good reason why some (NOT ALL) of these dxpedition operators go long streatches without identifying themselves???.....Other than worrying about "QSO RATES" (blabity blabity)......Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought a station ID was required every 10 minutes in most places.....Not everyone has cluster on at the time, and not everyone even has cluster....Not sure what the deal is with this, but for heaven sake, let the world know who you are on the air......if it's not a mandatory requirement, then do it for common courtesy for those trying to work you.....

I must be the only one who does not mind the cop who only says "Up".
I hate the ones that tie up the freq with rude comments and venting but the simple quick "up" is ok with me.

It wasn't like that last night.....it got to the point where one of those idiots sounded like was engaged in a conversation while Z81X was calling me....I was ready to hit the split button and say "HEY A-HOLE...GET OFF THE FREQUENCY..".....Just saying "UP"....tell me, do you think half the people who are on the split know what "UP" means???......Aggrivating....just plain aggrivating.....USE YOUR EARS AND BRAIN.....AND LEARN HOW TO OPERATE!!!!!.....

The problem IMO is two fold, 95% of it is because the Ops doing it don't listen or don't even seem to be hearing the DX and the second reason is that sometimes the DX op goes on long 30 min runs without saying his call sign or saying UP.

REPLY: That is another disturbing trend I am hearing with these operations, & is another issue for another thread!...

There is just no excuse except for plain ordinary ignorance.....I am referring to the constant calling of a DX station on his calling frequendcy when the DX station is working split......The Lids, Banshees, Goons, Alligators, Screamers, Thugs, Pugs and Mugs are bad enough, but when they call that way, and then the KC Cops chime in "HE'S LISTENING UP"....That just makes it worse....When Z81X was calling me last night, I almost didn't hear him as a result of these MORONS!!!!!....Especially the KC Cops who would not SHUT UP!!!!!...I almost didn't work Martti as a result, but thankfully, those A-holes shut up long enough for me to hear and get the qso......In this day and age with the cluster, etc. there is no excuse for not knowing a DX station is working duplex..NONE!...except for pure haste and ignorance.....and even without the cluster.....Does anyone listen anymore?Huh....ANYONE?Huh.....I thought the concept of split operation was a question on the license exams....Have they removed them from the question pool???.....Seriously, people....Learn how to use your VFOs before transmitting.....it's not that hard!!!!...I realize that sometimes we forget to hit the SPL button, but come on!!!!....When is enough enough?Huh?......USE YOUR EARS AND BRAINS....LISTEN!!!!!!......(vent over)

38  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Why was the OD5NJ thread locked/Registerd mail to Middle East on: April 28, 2013, 07:17:30 AM
Personally I think sending cards via registered mail is not really a good idea.
In many countries when registered mail comes in, all the person gets is a notification card delivered in their regular mail and at that point they need to go to a postal hub with the notification and proper ID in order to pick up the letter/parcel. In my own personal experience this can be a one hour ordeal plus driving time.  I would bet most dx hams will not bother with that hassle and will just leave the mail at hub unless its  something they are expecting or it is from a known person.

Yes this may be true, but in these cases, the actual operators recommend the practice....So if what you say is true, some operators who recommend qsling by registered mail probably don't mind the inconveniences you mention....

Aw c'mon guys....Politics and religion are fun topics....they add spice to the conversation!....lol....I don't know how you can avoid talking politics when it comes to North Korea and the efforts being made to try and get it on the air......but..whatever....

Chuck...sorry I misinterperted your comments.....I am a little bugged by the whole ZL9HR card thing, which has now been worked out.....The last thing I wanted to hear was that you had issues with Registered Mail while sending to the ME..Especially with all that money I spent......

WTF?Huh....Seriously, why was the thread locked???.....I wanted to respond to NI0C's comment about registered mail to the middle east.....at any rate, what I wanted to say was:  Oh, that's just great Chuck....It's bad enough another week as farted on by with no ZL9HR card in the mail, and now you are saying the money I spent on registered mail may not get me my Bahrain confirmations???....that's the last thing I wanted to hear......

P.S. OD5ZZ's card came in the mail today....he has a manager NI5DX, which was I think posted on another thread....if you can work Walid, it's an easy card to get with no waiting around.....

42  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Gaby, OD5NJ's QSL received today on: April 26, 2013, 01:15:22 PM
If a country has a bad or corrupt postal system how does mailing something registered insure you''ll get a reply?

73,

Chris/NU1O

Chris...I wondered that myself....then I saw the registered mail process when I mailed my two cards to Bahrain....The gal behind the postal counter really mummified the envelopes, with adhesive stickers, bar codes, tape and registered mail receipts......I am not sure if that will do any good in ensuring they reach their intended destination.....as in life, there are no guarantees......I know this answer is kind of ambiguous, but that's the observation that I made allowing me to reach this conclusion.....I just hope they get there, as the money spent on two registered postcard size envelopes was pretty high....
