eHam Forums / DXing / Your longest wait for a QSL card.....

What country/dxpedition or whatnot was your longest wait ever for a QSL CARD (NOT LOTW)......A wait that was sooo painful, that your patience ( ) ran out months in advance.....especially if it was for an ATNO.....For me it's a toss up between an Expeidtion to Aves Island from a few years back (before OQRS), and JX5O, which the manager fell ill for the longest time .....and then there were the ones that never arrived, which I gave up on, but fortuneately were not for ANTOs...those are many in number, and at this point, I don't really care about anymore.....What say you?....What country/dxpedition made you wait for your card the longest to the point of it driving you nuts? V KA3NRX P.S. and yes, I am still waiting for ZL9HR, which prompted this post..... ....

Hi Chris:
Registered mail is probably the way to go for direct qsling to Lebanon. That's how it is in Bahrain.....but if he/they are doing Paypal, that will relieve a lot of stress....tell me, have you received anything else qsl wise, if you know what I mean?......not to beat a dead horse....LOL....

In looking back through my Euro-Russia cards from over the years, both cold war and post cold war era, the closest qso I have confirmed to Chechnya is one with a station in North Ossetia, which is another region in the Caucuses (that also was in the news during that flap with the Georgia Republic a while back)......As far as finding a station in my log books (with a 6P or 7P suffix, that would be a monumental task to which I don't have much time for.....

This may be a dumb question but other than remembering that a Russian Op said he was in Chechnya, how would I tell? Would I have to go through every Russian contact in my log via QRZ and check the address? I have lots of those and it would take forever. I know at one point the Chechnyans used a "1X " prefix but I think that was a bootleg prefix!
I guess about the only way you would know is if "Grozny" is the QTH of the operator you worked...(Hey Gene, you stay at the Grozny Holiday Inn Express???...I hear it's a lovely place...what's left of it....LOL....)....Grozny is the capital of the republic, so one would figure that's where the most ham activitiy would come from, unless the Russians cut it off for some reason at some point..... In light of recent events (and without getting into those events on here), I was wondering if any of you have worked it? I realize it counts for nothing as far as DXCC goes (other than Russia). Just curious. I would have to dig deep into my old cards from the USSR days to see if I came even remotely close.....the surrionding republics of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan I am sure many of you have, as do I, but Chechnya has a spotlight on it once again....What say you?....any of you work this once unknown (to most of us) part of Russia prior to it being in the news?

I am going to try and be as tactful as I can with my statement. Another week has passed and still NOTHING in the mailbox.....and at the risk of sounding like a whiner, I have officially gone from being perplexed to being something else starting with the letter P (and it ain't puzzled either)......at this point, I would like to hear from anyone else in the same boat......that being, those of you who have used the ZL9HR OQRS just after the new year, and have still not received your qsl card.......quite frankly, I am getting sick and tired of waiting.......

So essentially, this station that has currently been on the air is a Pirate. Glad I worked Turkmenistan back in the old USSR days, when N8OO was living there....UH8EA was the call. Turkmenistan was one of the countries that I failed to get a qsl card from right after working Victor, until I found him on the internet and sent him a card in my quest to catch up on confirming DXCC entities....Thank God he moved to the USA for easy qsling.....Thanks Victor for being there!
