91  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: OK...I have held my water on this long enough..... on: April 20, 2013, 09:13:45 AM
I am going to try and be as tactful as I can with my statement. Another week has passed and still NOTHING in the mailbox.....and at the risk of sounding like a whiner, I have officially gone from being perplexed to being something else starting with the letter P (and it ain't puzzled either)......at this point, I would like to hear from anyone else in the same boat......that being, those of you who have used the ZL9HR OQRS just after the new year, and have still not received your qsl card.......quite frankly, I am getting sick and tired of waiting.......

So essentially, this station that has currently been on the air is a Pirate.  Glad I worked Turkmenistan back in the old USSR days, when N8OO was living there....UH8EA was the call. Turkmenistan was one of the countries that I failed to get a qsl card from right after working Victor, until I found him on the internet and sent him a card in my quest to catch up on confirming DXCC entities....Thank God he moved to the USA for easy qsling.....Thanks Victor for being there!

Wow!...some of you guys who are over the 300 threashold really need to wait a while.....that's too much.....Well, guess you'll just have to suffer with garden variety until the neededs come along....LOL.....anyway, Johnathan, not bragging at all....hope you reach your goal too....with that Little Tokyo Hy Power amp, I think you will do just fine....and, as is commonly said on this board, CONGRATS to all who are eeking them out under these conditions...

96  eHam Forums / DXing / ATNO's so far for 2013.... on: April 17, 2013, 06:33:37 PM
We are better than a third of the way thru the year....I realize the expedition scene has been slim pickens at this point, but what have you worked for an ATNO so far for 2013?.....I finally got Bahrain, not once but twice in the same night on SSB and CW on 20..but that's it...What say you?...(man, can't wait for those expeditions later this year, and that big announcement from The Intrepids this weekend!).....

97  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: How would you run a pile-up???? on: April 17, 2013, 04:15:11 AM
Hi,

I try to run a pile-up very calmly, but making sure everyone knows exactly who is in charge. Any other way and you will be exhausted very quickly.  Here is about one minute out of a three hour pile-up:

73 and DX,

John V47JA

Great set up Jon!....Those EUs were coming in loud for ya that day too....I like the way you handled things....giving your name, qth and the sig report with a nice rhythm....Not just "59-c-ya!"......You talk about being exhausted....I could never understand this contest mentality of working pileups and worrying about "qso rates" and that sort of thing.....and doing it like it's a race for the roses .....some guys are way too into that and need to back off on the caffeine and amphetamines!...I guess expeditions do that to get as many in the book as possible, but man...some guys out there need to chill a bit too....By the by, it's always great to work you on the bands!.....

98  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: TX5K News Story on CBS in San Diego When They Returned on: April 16, 2013, 05:37:19 PM
Hmmmm..pretty cool, but it doesn't really get into the Ham Radio angle of the trip....I like the part where the news guy goes "Clipperton....ever hear of it???".....Sadly, only we hams, and probably a core of oceanographers/marine biologists, and geography geeks are the only ones on the planet who have!....

I agree, Vinnie, but nothing sucks as bad as the band conditions do right now.

We had that nice jump in solar activity last week but now we are right back down to that 100 level.  That's been the story of this solar cycle.

Chris/NU1O

This sunspot cycle SUCKS too!...... Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Shocked.......

Try contacting EB7DX, the QSL manager, through this link.  This was found in his QRZ.com bio.

http://eb7dx.com/index.php/contact

Give as much info about the QSO as possible (Band, Mode, Date, Time, Call) just in case it is a busted call, hopefully he can match up enough info to provide you the card.

Hope this helps.

Glenn

Hi Glenn:

Definately not a busted call....I cleared that up back in December when I found my qso wasn't in the online log, but later was, and verifying it here on E-ham with the operator (Gene) who worked me....Like I said, I will give it until the end of April....if nothing by then, I will be moving forward with an e-mail to find out what the deal is.....Chris...I am under the impression that the majority on here got theirs already, and in a timely fashion too...Which is why I am so puzzled by this delay....I don't have the cash to throw around on a big $$$ donation to these operations....and if I did, I probably would not exceed a certain amount....I stated before that my mail delivery sucks around here too, so that sure doesn't help....and again, as for that flap over the finances, that is none of my business.....I just want to qso and verify it, and leave the in-fighting and power struggles to those who bring it on themselves......I just hope that that issue is not the reason for this painfully long wait fot this card....

102  eHam Forums / DXing / Additions and Deletions...Any news??? on: April 13, 2013, 11:18:59 AM
I can only speak for myself by saying I have not heard any rumblings about any entities being added or deleted from the DXCC list....Anyone out there hear otherwise???...even if it's a rumor....if for nothing else it makes for good conversation....Last I heard there was some speculation about booting Kingman off the list (enviro-nonsense?), and of course the debate surrounding adding Kosovo is still out there, but that's it on this end....What say you???...anyone got any tid bits from the rumor mill?

103  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Would you like to go on a DX-pedition (or another one) some day? on: April 13, 2013, 08:38:01 AM
Operating from the Vatican station or from SMOM would be the sh*t!....Oh yeah, that would be awesome....by day, operating the DX from the rare/semi-rare entities, and then by night, ROME!....ah, the sites, the food, the music, the culture, the history!......that would be an awesome DXpedition....and you wouldn't have to worry about freezing to death, finding a toilet, contracting maleria, or fighting revolutionaries either.

Who was the station requesting this?.....maybe you should e-mail them (a note that is) and get clarification?...

....ZL9HR QSL CARDS (NOT LOTW)....Who is still waiting?.....I have seen numerous arrival comments on cluster, albeit they were mostly out of EU, but still, who got theirs and who hasn't yet?.....No info on their web site, or anywhere else for that matter.....What say yinz?

V
KA3NRX

Did you criticize the VK operators and HARAOA who made off with the contributions?  I did numerous times so I'm not really surprised I don't have a QSL.  I did send a donation so I am entitled to one.  I have all my QSOs confirmed via LoTW.  If they are going to blacklist me for speaking my mind so be it.  I'd rather write what I feel than pull my punches over something I feel strongly about. I do believe that is why I have not received a QSL, however.

73,

Chris/NU1O

OQRS on New Years Day, with a confirmation to prove it and still nothing.....I am highly perplexed...I even threw in a couple extra bucks as a donation...(not mega money like some of you big donors do as this is not for finding a cure for cancer, but a donation none the less).....I am giving it to the end of April, and if there is nothing in the mail box by then, I will be making an inquirey via e-mail.....And Chris, as for the issue with the organization, I am fully aware of what had transpired, but made no comment on it whatsoever in any way shape or form......
