I once had a beam with the mast outside of my bedroom window. I had a steering wheel attached at the bottom of the mast and when I wanted to point the beam in a different direction, I opened the wndow and turned the steering wheel. It's what the old timers called "The Armstrong Method". 73, Terry, W0ZS

I highly recommend the Hexbeam. I think you will find it will disappear with the trees in the background. It has a very small turning radius, and should handle the legal limit. I know they are pretty spendy. If you are good at building, you may want to consider joining the yahoo group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hex-beam/ They have a lot of members who have built their own at lot less than the cost of a commercial Hex. Remember, the Hex is a two element wire beam so it probably won't be a pile up buster at 37 feet. FWIW!

I used to have the Ts-850 and used a Kam with it. Here is a website that tells about a mod for this problem: http://www.radiomods.co.nz/kenwood/kenwoodts850.html"A common problem when using a KAM-Plus multimode with the Kenwood TS-850 or TS-450 occurs when the KAM-Plus is coupled to the Accessory-2 socket on the back of the transceiver, producing noticable distortion of the transmitted audio when using the microphone in SSB mode." I think if you google this problem you will probably find a lot more. I don't really anybody modding their radio unless they feel comfortable doing so. 73 es GL! Terry, WK0F

Rob, Cut and paste the address in: http://www.ae7q.com/show/CallHistory.php?CALL=w6nzxThis is a great site, and they have excellent tutorials on the whole process. Some people complain the process takes too long in this day of the Internet, but they have to give others a chance to get their check mailed in if they choose to pay by snail mail. Here is the link to the explanation page: http://www.ae7q.com/text/Vanity.htmlDean (AE7Q) does a much better job of explaining the process than I do. The nice thing that once it's posted on the FCC's site you can start using the call right away. You don't need the paper copy. In fact you can print the paper copy from the FCC website or AE7Q's site. The only thing that matters is what is in the FCC's database. 73, Terry, WK0F

4/17/07 is your process date. I just did mine on the FCC site and followed the progress on AE7Q's site. He had a prediction date and it was spot on. I'm guessing there will be no information because there is typically a 18 day waiting period to see if anybody else is competing for the call and waiting for mail in payment. It looks like you are going to get the call, you just have to let the process work. 73,
