eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Help need easy plans to build some indoor antennas. 2m and HF

Ok, first of all I'm not a builder. I have never built anything and had it work.
I have an IC-746, and am living in a house where I can't have any antennas outside, and I have no access to the attic. So running a dipole in the attic is out.
I have been using a 2m 1/4 magmount without much success, i have tried various ways to mount it and various metal plates for a groundplane.
Anyway does anyone have some EASY plans to make a decent 2 meter antenna? If I could use parts from the magmount even better
Also some EASY EASY plans to make a HF Antenna. 20 and 75/80 phone are my favorite bands. So Help a non builder out. Thanks

eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Some help FT 890 or Ft 920
|
on: January 10, 2003, 12:00:59 PM
|
|
I use to have an FT-890at and am kicking myself for selling it. It had the BEST reciever in it of any rig I've had since. I have had to compare it to: FT-767gx FT-900 IC-706 TS=690sat and now an FT-847
If I could find an FT-890at again cheap enough I'd pick it up and stop using my FT-847 for HF and just use it for VHF/UHF.
The 890 has the same reciever design as the FT-1000. I ran a LONG wire antenna on a modified G5RV that was only at it's highest point 14 feet off the ground

eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Need easy to build indoor antenna for 40meters
|
on: January 10, 2003, 11:56:46 AM

I am a fan of 40 meters, and 10meters. I am not much of an HF operator anymore, I have a house bu thave not put up any outside antenna.
I am not much of a builder either, but thought if it wasn't too hard I'd like to build an indoor antenna for 40 meters.
I have an FT-847, and a MFJ delux Versatuner II.
So please make some suggestions that would be EASY and not too much cost.
Thanks.

eHam Forums / APRS / Which GPS reciever?
|
on: March 19, 2002, 01:28:09 PM

|
I am just getting started in APRS and am going to purchase a Kenwood TH-7DA at 2002 hamvention. My question is what is the cheapest GPS reciever that would work for hooking it up to this rig?
I have been searching on EBAY and found decent prices on a Garmin GPS III or GPS IIIplus. But I am not concerned about mapping on the GPS unit.
I have a Palm III which I would like to use with this setup also using the pocket aprs software.
Any suggestions?
