76  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / External Band Scope from IC-781 on: December 22, 2012, 11:43:31 AM
Anyone know the details to take the radio's display and put it on an external band scope (monitor)?  I have seen it but unable to find the details on how and what is involved.

As good as the FT-1000MPMK5?  WHich would one consider better?

And, for that matter, can one run the SDR software to get the bandscope external to the 781 (using its IF).

I have heard that even at this point in time, many still consider the 781 a very good radio (albeit the 2 khz close adjacent QRM ability is a bit lacking).
Any inputs or thoughts on this radio?  Just curios.

Pretty good operation overall...enjoyed it...never had a chance to try low bands, never on at our prop time but worked them 30 meters and up....well controlled pile ups, not the 50KHZ split some recent ones entertained....

82  eHam Forums / Good Seller / Buyer Beware / RE: K7FF - Excellent Transaction! on: December 10, 2012, 07:49:34 AM
Don't recall if/when I purchased anything from him, I did have a want post, he didn't read it, as I asked for a pic of the item in reply, so I e-mailed him asking again, can you send a pic of the item (never know what real "condition" something is in).  Guess he didn't like that, never responding back, so I deleted his e-mail.  Not worth it.

So, to answer, Not sure what to think but probably won't entertain deaing with him.  Don't need the hassle or down the road, a problem if this was a big deal outright....

Have dealt with Derek in the past, okay, sometimes I e-mail about something he might have but never hear back...so not sure what the deal is...on and off....

84  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / External Bandscope for FT-1000MP on: November 25, 2012, 10:28:04 AM
I have an FT-1000MPMK5, had the IF brought out and running thru the LP Pan adapter, running HRD and Power SDR IF Stage, but the signal is not clear and buried in noise unless the signal is at least S-9+10 or more.

Is there another method to have an external band scope for the FT_1000 or for that matter, to bring out the IC-756PRO?  Like a decent bandscope external to the radio....

Up for doable ideas....

87  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: A complete and total disgrace last night on 40 meters on: November 19, 2012, 09:33:35 AM
It is sad.  Unfortunately, some of which was brought on by their "operating style".  I have heard countless QSOs discussing it from 20 Meters to 75 meters.  I think though some word got back to them so fortunately, they are doing that less now.  As to the jerks, cops, idiots, etc.  Well, we always have them amongst us.  I have heard past Dxpeditions with calls on top of them for the longest time and some of them OT's that either can't see the split button, or whatever. It isn't just the newbies....

And telling someone to go there and do it better..yeah, we get all that...just try and run the show a bit tighter I think it was most want....
I don't need it, but would like it on some band/modes, but not going to stress myself listening to the nit wits on there with all their comments, cursing, etc.  Just not worth it....
88  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: PT0S active on: November 19, 2012, 09:30:24 AM
I don't think they posted the RTTY QSOs, just a thought.   Didn't see mine either...so who knows...could be a mix up on their end, or just not set up to log them...

Just hope it is on their posession when they return (Hi).

I bought one of their cheap headsets.  Damn thing would slide off your noggin just looking downwards.  I contacted them about a resolution, as there is no adjustment...they sent me some scraps of foam....like that supposedly would do something....

They were rude, etc when I spoke with them.  Headset is in the junk box.  Never again..what a piece of cr*p....

I had bought one of their Jupiters that was a send it back if you don't like it arrangement.  Got the radio, was squirrely out of the box.  Sent it back, found out it was wired incorrectly.....got it back, after that QC issue, I decided to just return it....wasn't all that great and with one QC issue, I figured more may be forthcoming..never went back, not sorry.
