1  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: Station Upgrade on: November 01, 2012, 04:22:13 PM
Suggest you check with hamstation.com, a dealer in OH that I have used several times for good equipment. They update used part of site every few days. Whatever you buy, you have 10 days to change your mind after you get it...and 30 days warranty on the equipment. good ppl to deal with, no complaints. No, don't work for them...they are in OH, and i live in AZ:)Smiley  Good luck!...de Jerry W7TNS

Hand's down...one thing!! Keying a mike, and having someone you never met half way around the world come back to you!! Was an swl at 12, and after all these years...STILL find that so much fun!!!
3  eHam Forums / Misc / Net name announcements on: August 12, 2012, 05:08:53 PM
Maybe I'm the only guy on this block...but, why is it that 80% of Net Controls (not usually tfc nets, for some reason) announce the name of the net itself VERY rarely, or so fast that even when repeated, is only known by ongoing net members/checkins. I belong to several hf nets, and those seem to have NCS that say the net name clearly and often, when calling for checkins. But, when I dial around and fid a "new" net, even after listening a while and trying to determine if it is a net I want to check in/chat with, I struggle to understand the name of the net when actually announced, and rarely announced. Wouldn't it behoove NCS who actually do want NEW checkins to announce clearly and often??...Anywho, just my 2 cents...Have a great day!
4  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: g5rv question...still new here...thanks...do you have to do an inverted V? on: July 13, 2011, 11:14:37 PM
Damn gentlemen!!  The poor guy was just looking for some beginner level help!!  Did he get it? I doubt it, cause of 2 clowns who want to posture for Top Dog, rather than simply help a newbie!!  No wonder guys leave the hobby, after having to watch 2 CB'ers duke it out!!!   Give it up, guys!!!  Close it down!!  Yup, I said that, so get over it!!

8  eHam Forums / Misc / Knwd ts 850 sat question on: May 30, 2011, 04:59:33 PM
Hi!  Have a TS 850sat as my backup station, on a G5RV. Not sure if I have an ALC problem or not. Knwd tech said if it is always beyond the alc grapic on the rig, to send it in for repair. Problem is, it is not always beyond. I run the mic gain at about 8 to 9 oclock, and am conscious of keeping voice peaks stable. Seems to get good reports otherwise. Just wondering if anyone else has that issue. Tnx for your help in advnace. Oh, has original hand mike on the rig...de Jerry W7TNS
9  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / TS-50-Change sidebands?? on: November 07, 2010, 09:14:53 AM
Have two Knwd TS-50's...have run both mobile at times, and with great results. Currently using one as  second station at home. Want to monitor hf air freq's, military, utility...all which run USB. The ts50 does the sideband automatically  when you go to a ham band. Anyone know how  to do this thru a menu or something similar. All help appreciated...Tnx for reading...73 de Jerry W7TNS

11  eHam Forums / Elmers / Conflict with HRD and Ico CI-V wannabe on: March 17, 2010, 02:29:00 PM
Have a non-Icom CI-v CAT ct-17 made for computer control with IC-746 original. Works ok on 2 different computers, but makes the computers(Windows XP) unstable and the monitors cut out fully, when used with Ham Radio Deluxe. XP in newer comp. messages that if I hook it up, will make computer unstable, which it does. Any ideas what I can do??  Thanks in advance...73...Jerry W7TNS
12  eHam Forums / Station Building / Is this a good deal..?? TS-820S or TS-50..?? on: March 12, 2007, 10:18:16 PM
HI!

I have 2 TS-50's, one bought new and a 2nd one bought used. LOVE these rigs...use mobile...constantly hear stations ask me"Are you really mobile?" when running w/ hamsticks. As to $300, I have never seen one for that cheap. Definitely check it out if at all possible. If it seems too cheap, perhaps it is. Hp all that helps...Jerry, W7TNS
13  eHam Forums / Elmers / Ts 50 vs.TS 520 on: December 17, 2006, 03:18:16 PM

Hi...I own both rigs, plus IC-746 as a main rig. Have 2 ts 50 for mobile. Plus for TS50 is small, very reliable, has WARC bands, good Kenwood audio, gen. cov. rcvr. I love it as a mobile. The TS 520 is my backup base rig. Plusses are it is bullet proof, with good tubes will do 140 watts on 75, gud Kenwood audio, no warc bands, no gen. cov. rcvr, but a great radio besides. Space-wise, 520 is much bigger...ts50 will fit anywhere. Hope that helps you...73 es Merry Xmas...Jerry W7TNS
14  eHam Forums / Elmers / Mobile Antenna Advice on: December 05, 2006, 08:00:53 PM
I have run a Kenwood TS 50 w/ Hamsticks with great success! You can use a trunk lip mount and just unscreww the antenna to get in the garage. Good Luck...73 de Jerry W7TNS
