Don Miller keeps coming up doesnt he? Wow compare the 1960's to 2012 and then just imagine 30 years from now IMO just Trust or don't Trust the people involved, if you don't then don't give any money, if you do then give what you want to. No need to change the way we treat each other just because we get our fingers burned once in awhile. I agree - but in the 60's we didn't have the Internet and "social media" . . . . Progress? But you are right - I can only remember 4 big controversies since I became a ham in 1973 regarding DX-peditions. Which means this sort of thing is rare. Airing the dirty details in public is even more rare. One of the controversies in the 60's was a Navassa DX-pedition done by two guys in a small private boat who went to Navassa. That one did not count: http://dxccsleuth.wordpress.com/2012/08/26/navassa-island-pirate-of-the-caribbean/

This is GREAT to see. One ham with the issue, the other ham giving him the info and the first ham jumping in feet first to be a pilot.
Now THIS is what ham radio and DXing is all about. Just do it!
DX IS!

Good discussion - this makes sense. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other if and when it is added to the list - I'm much more excited about ZL9HR, Z80B, VK0/H plus a few that I know will be announced to top 20 places for 2013. Its funny, after working Malpelo, Yemen, Palestine and Iran this year (all considered rare for the West Coast - and only Malpelo being "easy") I've become addicted to the really rare ones - they have been driving me to really get into designing and building the antennas that will help me snag them. That has made DXCC all that much more fun in the process. Kosovo as a new one will be as exciting as the "PJ's" were for me. Easy and only mildly exciting. And now I completely understand why entities that are only "pebbles in the sea" will remain on the list until they end up like this: http://webzoom.freewebs.com/qsl-history/undefined/7J1RL.jpgOne day I will do a DXCC Sleuth blog on it. Its one of the most amazing activations ever. IARU 79, 'nuff said

ahah Gotcha. Yes, SP3 is the earliest. I'll get Erik and Erin to add that to the web page. And yes, it's nuts.. couple hundred emails a day, coding, managing. It's a real company and HRD took of so fast! I didnt expect as many hams to buy early as did.. wow... It shows the majority of hams do support their own.. and thats nice to see. And Mike, Randy and I have been able to hire people and pay them a decent wage. Job creation, isnt that what small busines is all about? Rick - W4PC

After nearly a year absence from HF digital for many reasons, I recently began to renovate the shack and in the process trashed the operating system on the shack computer. A reformat and reinstall of XP, ser pack 2, got me going again. OK, time to reinstall HRD. New Sheriff in town. Simon's gone. Ver 6.0 to be out soon. Use 5.23 until then. Modest cost soon to come (about time, I'd say). Ver 5.23 installed. Program crashes on startup. Not even a splash screen. Is XP no longer supported? Do I go back to the most recent copy of HRD I still have from Simon (5.06, build xx36, or some such). Do I go to FlDigi? What's up?

Windows XP SP2 isnt supported. Windows XP SP3 is.. This is what Microsoft supports. Again, which chipset are you using?

The website is for peer to peer support. Phone and email support was Jon and I is only by sunscription.
1. On the blue screen, do you have a prolific chipset 2. We are working on bug fixes and yet another free release.. we want those as close to gone before 6.0 3. If your macros etc arent saving, your "simon brown, HB9DRV" folder may be read only. 4. The VS 2010 C runtime doesnt take up much space. it's just DLLs for the C/C++ runtime (HRD id written in C++, not C#)

Of course the guy got fixed and never returned here to post an update.
Let's see, they've been in business 12 years, always go to Dayton, etc etc
And yes, my post was biased, but arent all posts.. the real problem is some hams have NO PATIENCE, or assume too much.
