1  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: ZL9HR Logs and LOTW and QSL cards . . on: December 31, 2012, 12:59:55 PM
Hi Rich,

Well, I had high hopes that the ZL9HR confirmation would show up on LOTW before the end of the year for my #331, but looks like that's not going to happen.   Maybe the DXCC desk would offer a "grace period" because of the LOTW log backup?    Grin

LOTW status says processing logs from 12/19/12.   Two days too late.

73,
David, K4ZZR

Well, I'm a happy camper. Got them on several band slots and most importantly ZL9 gives me Honor Roll.  NH8S was #330 and ZL9HR is #331.  I heard that all of the NH8S logs have been uploaded to LOTW, but with the system bogged down, nothing verified yet.   If ZL9HR uploads to LOTW soon, maybe I can get my application into ARRL before the end of the year.   Grin

Man I love DX!

ATNO #331 for me.  Got em on a couple of bands, just to make sure.  It's only taken me 35 years to get Honor Roll   Grin

I'm a happy camper.

I worked FO0XD back in 1978 on 40 CW.  A looooong time ago!   Wink

Worked 3B9 in 1989 and again in 2002.  As long as the entity isn't anywhere near Christmas Island, I can work them!   Grin

BTW, congrats on getting VK9XM!

Still nothing here in south Florida.  Yesterday I could hear him on 20 like a whisper, but nothing intelligible.  4 el Steppir at 70' about 3 miles from the Atlantic.

Wonder how many NA stations actually worked him.  Would like to see a leaderboard with some stats.  Anybody in Florida work him?

So, for now, still holdng at 330......looking forward to Campbell and good propagation.   Smiley

Looks like he went QRT around 0100z.  It's 8:45 a.m. there now so maybe he's having breakfast and will be back on (hoping).  It's already Oct 11th on Christmas Island and his sked was from Oct 6 - Oct 12.

Running out of time (sigh).

Until I see my call in the on-line log, I will be anxious Grin ! No matter what, it was a thrill just to hear him. He was constant, albeit fairly weak, on the K3, but when I heard him tap out "CQ", I went bananas!

Congrats!   Did you work him LP or SP?   I still haven't heard a peep in south Florida. Sad

Suffering from lack of sleep, up every couple of hours to see if I could hear Pekka....no such luck.  Fell asleep with my head on the desk.  My wife just looks at me like I'm nuts.  Wink.  Keep checking my rig and antennas to make sure they're working.  LP, SP, LP, SP.....nothing.   I see a couple of W6 stations work him on the cluster.   Roll Eyes  Looked to see how much it would cost to fly there ($3,000 from Florida).   Grin

Hoping prop improves before they leave.   Love it.

I hope KX9X really got him. If so, good for him.  I'd be afraid of who I actually worked in that simplex pileup.   Wonder if VK9XM is going to upload to Clublog?

This would be 331 for me so I'm kind of anxious to work him.   Cheesy   It's wierd because I couldn't hear Christmas back in November of last year and I couldn't hear them last month either.   Walked outside a couple times to make sure my antenna was still there!   We still have several days left so maybe prop will change and we'll all get lucky.

I must be in a black hole here in south Florida.  Haven't even heard a peep from VK9XM.  Nada.   EU seems to be working him with no trouble.

13  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Walls You've Hit on the Way to DXCC Honor Roll? on: October 06, 2012, 11:15:11 PM
I'm at the wall right now with 330 confirmed.  If I could just nail Christmas Island, I'd be very happy.  Campbell is also still on my short list so I might actually get HR this year.   Even though I don't have the HR plaque yet, I do have my P5 card framed on the wall.  Grin

Most of my friends don't understand the thrill of chasing a new one.

14  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: CHRISTMAS ISLAND - VK9XM on: September 18, 2012, 09:18:02 PM
Problem is, I DO hear them, but they're operating in the "Elite" Extra Class frequencies right now and I'm just a lowly Advanced Class.  I know, I know, upgrade.  But I just can't get myself motivated enough to study.

Hope I can nail VK9X next month when Pekka returns.   Grin

Doesn't make much sense that someone who demonstrated CW proficiency at 13WPM has fewer CW privileges than someone who didn't have to demonstrate any CW proficiency, does it?

Ya know, you make a good point that I had never really thought about.  Since the code requirement ended, a new Extra Class doesn't actually have to know CW anymore.  Heck, I can still send/receive CW at 13wpm.   Smiley
