Main question. How to set roller inductor. As the same output can be obtained with the same plate current and dead key drive, what is the criteria to find the ideal roller inductor setting. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. The warning says that adobe can't open it because the file is damaged or the wrong kind of file. If I save it to the desk top and click on propertys It shows that there is nothing in the file, 0 bytes. Have tried firefox and get the same effect. So it seems to be in Xp rather than IE. Any ideas? thanks King Davis Alias Ke7aso

Need someone with good knowledge of henry 1kd5. To review difference between as-built and schematic. There is an error in the values of the components in the grid metering circuit. Or I have a different schematic from the two amps that I have. It appears that vr2 should be 5k ohms without the 220 ohm resistor across that pot. If any one has a schematic that is different than the one on bama I would appreciate hearing from you.Vr1 and Vr2 on the bama and the old manual I have are listed as 1k pots. Any help with this will get this project back on track. Thanks Ke7aso, alias King Davis.

I HAVE JUST OBTAINED A HENRY 1KD-5. IT HAS BEEN HASHED PRETTY BAD. SOME ONE HAS CHANGED THE POWER SUPPLY AND TUBE. THEY CHANGED THE TUBE TO SOME CERAMIC TYPE. AND TRANSFORMER AND POWER SUPPLY TO VOLTAGE DOUBLER CIRCUIT. I AM JUST STARTING THE PROJECT AND ORDERED A NEW TRANS. FROM HENRY.WHAT I NEED IS TO SEE A FEW PICS OF THE INTERNALS SO I KNOW WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE IN THE FIRST PLACE. IF SOME ONE HAS ONE THEY COULD REMOVE THE COVERS FROM AND EMAIL PICS OF THE BOTTOM OF THE 3-500 SOCKET AND A VIEW OF THE POWER SUPPLY AREA IT WOULD WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HAVE THE MANUAL WHICH CONTAINS 0 PICS. THANKS AND HOPEING. KE7ASO.

Well here goes my two cents worth. I have reconditioned a few boat anchor transmitters. as I am a tech at the moment some of the work is dummy load only. The B&W 5100 was the biggest challenge as it had not seen a glo in 35 years. The johnson rangers are a peace of cake to get going again as long as some cb'er has not totalled it. Or some one has not done all of the solid state power supply mods and audio mods that abound on the net. My favorite is a ranger 2 which I run on the local 6 meter am net. Along with this I run a hq-170 vhf. I also rotate a seneca with a clegg interceptor, a clegg venus, and a pair of gonset g-50s just to keep them all up and running. As you can now tell I am a 6 meter nut to some degree. I like all of the old tube gear and like it in original condition with noooooo mooooods. As they say in the classic car hooby. Don't crush em restore em. Good luck in the boat anchor hooby. 73's KING DAVIS ALIAS KE7ASO

Thanks for the help. This is my first venture into rebuilding a ssb tranmitter. I have reconditioned many old am rigs. Is your rig the model that has the rca jumper plugs in series after the balance modulator or the older model with out. I NEED TO FIND A GOOD COPY OF THE OLDER SCEHMATIC. I have the newer model manual. but there are a lot of circuit differances. Some of which are bias redings on transmitt and the neutralizing circuit on the pa. I have gotten far enough to test into a dummy load and have found heavy ac hum so i'm stopping to rebuild the pwer supply first. Any other help would be greatly appreciated. King Davis alias ke7aso

I am trying to get a clegg venus up and running. I have got a lot of the bugs worked out but need some trouble shooting help.I have the manual and schematic. I am getting a lot of bad readings on the bias voltages on various tubes on transmit. the controls are all working correctly. with the exception of the loading control. at 50.400 the control has just enough capacitance to dip the plate current but at lower freq. it does not have enough. I disassembled the pi- network yesterday and checked all the components for shorts and capacitance and every thing checks right on. What are the chances that the rg- 174 from the pi network to the output relay has gone bad with age. any help will be greatly appreciated. The pic in the manuel shows the 12by7 driver with out the tube shield. is it supposed to have one.

WELL THANKS FOR THE INFO. BUT THIS IS A CLASS A PARELLEL AUDIO OUT PUT INTO A CHOKE. I THINK IT IS HEISING TYPE MODULATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS REGARDING THIS TYPE MODULATION TRANSFORMER PLEASE REPLY. THE ORIGINAL WAS REPLACED WITH A UNIVERSAL OUTPUT TRANSFORMER BEFORE I GOT THE RIG AND IT IS BURNED UP. THANKS KING O DAVIS KE7ASO
