1  eHam Forums / CW / Working Dxpeditions if you are a slow CW'er on: August 22, 2007, 08:07:06 AM
I was wondering..if you are very slow at CW..will a Dxpedition (eg: N8S, BS7H) even bother with you?..To be honest..I never tried..I thought I was too slow (& I AM very slow!!) What do you do, try anyway, or don't waste their time?

3  eHam Forums / DXing / Card from N8S?? on: August 17, 2007, 06:30:20 AM
I don't know what happened to the original N8S cards I sent on April 5th & April 15 (both had SASEs & $$ for postage, etc)..Like I mentioned in a previous post..I resent 2 NEW cards to them about 3 weeks ago, with 2 cards in one letter, & got one (with both QSOs on it) back yesterday (August 16)..I don't know anyone in my circle that's gotten any N8S cards yet...Hard to believe BOTH cards I sent with $$, etc..got lost (or "whatever")?..Guess there's no way of knowing?...

5W0AA?..Who know's?..There's another shining example..I him emailed about that, & got something to the effect about it being mailed "next week"..& that was months ago..so I guess that's one I'll never see...Make's you wonder about some of these..doesn't it...I just mailed my OJ0B (Market Reef) QSL..let's see how long that take's...

The conclusion...

I received today, Aug 16, a QSL from N8S with both contacts I made on it..The original cards, sent April 5 & April 15..I never received a reply to those..This card came in a return envelope I sent them about 3 weeks ago...I know because I started using Bill Plum's DX send/return envelope sets about a month ago..& figured I'd send "new" QSLs to them(N8S), both in 1 envelope (I originally sent my 1st cards on April 5 & 15..never got a reply to those). Today..I got a QSL in response to cards I sent them 3 weeks ago...So..got my confirmation(s)..finally!  I hope everyone else get's their's soon also!

N8S?.....Pushing 20 weeks since I mailed the 1st of 2 cards...Nothing..But I just know they'll be here tomorrow! (I also have some waterfront real estate in Arizona for sale too!)...Sent $2 in each & a few $$ to boot for their effort...Plus SASEs....I mailed my 20M QSL for OJ0B this morning....bet I get one back from them before I get one from N8S.

That's exactly the experience I had on 20M phone..They weren't very loud, but obviously heard well..As usual..there were "operators" calling on OJ0B's transmit freq (14.190), etc. I got them on one call also at about 20:00 UTC , using about 500W thru a SteppIR BigIR Vert, and when they called for me..other's kept transmitting anyway..the usual..
