1  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Tiny 80m Transciever on: November 04, 2008, 03:44:46 PM

I think the ATS3B (by Kd1JV) is your best option. It is a surface mount kit. puts out legal limit QRP(!) and it is basically a top end qrp transceiver . It also does digital. If you are beginning in Construction, the kit is not recommended.

3  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / 40m DC receiver on: October 28, 2008, 03:28:02 PM
Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, That is my rule of thumb. If the moise level increases when the antenna is connected, then a preamp is not required. because this wasnt my case with this particular receiver(!), I was wonderig whether a preamp was good.

Thanks a lot

I built the receiver side of the funster transceiver

http://www.qrp.pops.net/funster.asp (link)

I just have the T50-2 4t : 39t with 68pF as shown as the filter.

Now I am using a 7031 KHz xtal. But I want it to be a VXO. So should I put a small (10-70) variable cap where the 68pf || 10pf cap below the xtal ?

also would the VE7GC pre amp be a good aide to this rcvr?

http://www.qrp.pops.net/preamp.asp (preamp link, scroll down a bit to see the design)
5  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Any uses for this toroid? on: June 02, 2008, 03:30:26 PM
one example would be the microR2 series by KK7B in January 1993 QST. It used the 88mH coils in the audio filter.

I think the Binaural receiver also uses these.

Check local hamfests and remember to put the message out in your club.I am sure somebody will have it.It will probably cost $20 or so new.Google "Nebraska Surplus Sales" and "Cardwell Condensers" and "Fair Radio Sales".

these might have what you need
7  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Variable Capacitor Pinout on: March 10, 2008, 03:37:25 PM
If you are looking for a capacitance meter, go for the AADE meter kit(google it). I myself am going to get one.

If i remember correctly, there are 3 leads sticking out,

Now if you hold it with the leads facing AWAY from you, the middle one is ground, the left lead would be 0-60pF, and the extreme right one would be 0-160pF.

11  eHam Forums / HomeBrew / Bare Essentials CW Transmitter project questions on: September 06, 2007, 07:36:23 AM
PIV is peak inverse voltage. this means how much reverse bias a diode can handle.silicon rectifiers were used back in the 50s(maybe 60s or 40s) so i would suggest try to find them at Antique Electronic Supply
12  eHam Forums / Elmers / VHF rigs on: January 28, 2007, 06:48:22 PM

13  eHam Forums / Misc / What should my first HF rig be? on: January 28, 2007, 06:38:42 PM
your rig should have CW and SSB modes . if you want to be on the real cheap side , a CW only rig is your best bet.
