Apparently you missed where I said I realize there are other vendors out there, but I have already invested in these products. What I am looking for is a constructive solution to the dilemma.

Nope, I did read what you wrote - the advice was for the future and, apparently, your subsequent posts indicate that you got the point. IF enough people stop buying? BTW Some of their cables are deliberately made to not work with other software.

Just an observation--with all due respect. With the title of this thread, it was probably expected that it contained something about WinXP, not a request for a low price video card solution for a newer OS/computer combination.
I agree with one exception, I don't respect posters who can't CLEARLY state a topic. They just use up other people's valuable time deciphering what they REALLY meant. No one is forcing you to come here and answer peoples questions. I am not commenting on answering questions. My comment refers to the need to actually open a message to only find out that the title in no way represents the content of the message. THAT is a time waster.

Way too many variables in this problem: Wind Area of antenna; Weight of Antenna; Weight of Rotator; Torque imposed on mast by stopping antenna rotation; Construction of mast; Material of Mast and Stub including tensile strength; Design of Brackets; Structure to which Bracket(s) will be fastened; Method of fastening Bracket(s) to Structure; ..........

It depends on your Coop. I am a customer of Berkeley Electric Cooperative in South Carolina. I made a call reporting an arcing insulator and was astonished to hear their truck pull up less than 15 minutes later. Their linemen quickly confirmed the problem and worked the lines, hot, to complete repairs, in less than an hour, AT NIGHT! The pole was not accessible to a bucket truck so they had to climb to do the job.
To contrast that, I have a friend who had a VEPCO pole in his back yard actually catch fire before they would send anyone to fix it!!!!!

I'm using the cable that came with the radio. It goes directly from the radio to to USB and plugs into the USB port on the computer. Yes, having trouble with both CHIRP and the VIP software that came with the radio, I tried both reading and writing and getting no radio connected errors on both CHIRP and VIP. Thanks
Try reloading the USB driver and then make sure you selecting that port in the software. Also, make very sure the cable is inserted fully into the radio - I had a problem with that in the past.

eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Best Practice: Trimming resistor leads before or after soldering to board?

In production facilities, back when PCBs were populated with leaded components, it was not uncommon to insert all leaded components in the PCB, wave solder and then trim them using a fly cutter. Then, the PCBs were sometimes sent through a re-flow machine, which made all the solder joints neat looking. These day, SMD devices predominate to the extent that leaded components often are inserted last and hand soldered.

You're seeing a beacon transmitting. If you turn up the volume on your receiver, you can hear it.
Not always the case. I am looking at my waterfall and there are constant lines on my waterfall about 120 Hz apart. They are not all beacons. What I have discovered is that they appear when I use my wireless router and are coning from the switching power supply.
