Here is a Battery mod I thought I would pass along.
When I was planning to replace the Memory Backup battery in my TS-850S, I wanted to install a holder for the battery so I would not have to take the complete front of the rig apart again.
After a lot of research, I found a great Battery Holder that is a direct replacement for the stock battery pin out. After removing the original battery make sure all three holes in the circuit board are clear of solder, then put a thin piece of double stick foam tape on the back of the battery holder and solder it in place. I would use a small point 15-watt soldering pencil and use an anti static strap.
Make sure that the positive terminal of the holder is in the lower hole in the board.
When you remove the original battery you can see the polarity.
I ordered the battery holder and Battery from www.microbattery.com
This new battery has about 70% more capacity than the original one so it will last longer.
The holder part number is: BH-2450-BH273LF
The Battery number is: E-CR-2450TS/1 (540 mah)
If you would like to see photos of the installed battery you can e-mail me.
