I just scanned the eHam.net string on the Challenger two minutes ago.  Take a look at the GAP Challenger review in Product Reviews/HF Vertical Antennas.  N1OU managed to get his working on 17m, check his comments dated Nov. 15, 2001.  The link to this product review is actually on the eHam.net home page right now.
