How does everybody log there contacts ?What I mean by that is if I make a contact on VO-52 is that a 70cm contact because I transmitted on 70cm or a 2 meter contact because I listened to 2 meter?

Ok I heard myself calling cq mode A but it was distorted badly, according to amsat mode A is USB up and down. It wasn't an overhead pass but when it was east of me it was at about a 45 degree angle. The antennas I'm using for mode A is a G5RV for rx on 29.450 and a homebrew squalo for tx 145.900.For tracking I'm using Orbitron 3.71. Thanks for all the help. John

When using satellites like AO-7 if I set my trasmit in the middle of the uplink for mode A 145.900 does that mean my rx will be in the middle of the downlink 29.450. And if not were would I find the offsets for other like satellites. Thank You in advance de KC0BMF John

I resently purchased a used PW1 and it will power on and auto change bands but that seems to be it. The exiter is an IC 746. I followed the manual and reset the 746 to transieve on,baud rate 9600 reset the PW1's cpu, sycronized and changed the address on the exiter from 56h to 54h all several times to no avail. And like I said it will power on and auto change bands but thats all. It wont manualy change antennas or meters or amp on.The previous owner had it hooked to a yaesu ft-1000mp.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks kcobmf John

Don thanks for stopping by.Well I got it, you know when I first had the problem I tried reloading the drivers to no avail. So I bought the new soundcard and was having problems getting it to work right so I pulled it out to start over and thought I'll try one more time to reload the drivers for the on board card and I'll be damned if that fixed it.Boy I tell ya these computers. When they work there great when they don't what a pain. Thanks again.

Hey James thanks for stoping by. I think I got the sound card going last night at least I can hear psk signals threw my speakers again. But I'm not getting any signals on the display. And yes I did deleate some software before the problem started. So now I'm wondering what I threw away.
Thanks John

Hi all. In the past I've had CW Get and W1SQL for Cw and psk 31 receive only and things were humming along just fine and one day nothing. It was just like the sound card wasn't hearing anything.I checked the cable and it was fine.So I figure onboard sound card went bad. So i picked up a Comp USA 16bit full duplex codec,32 bit pci bus interface,4 channel sound card, 20 $ ( I say that like I know what it means ).Now it says if I have on-board sound i'll need to disable it.My first question, how does one do that? The motherboard is a Biostar M7VKS.My second question which should of been my first is did I jump the gun in assumeing the sound card is bad? I've made up my mind the Rigblaster is coming in but I want to make sure the computor is up to snuff before I order one.Thank you for any help you can give me.

Well my uncle had it put away in a closet. It was really neat he received it as a Christmas gift in I think it was 1958. He used it that day and then put it away.On the recording was my grandmother ( who passed probably about 20 years ago) playing the accordion and singing Five foot two. Thanks for the inf. but I had already figured it out.
Thanks allot John kc0bmf

Thanks for the help guys. I might not have worded that very well. I don't have the remote head remotly mounted it is mounted on the radio so, I don't have the cable hooked up. I just ment that I had it pluged into the head that is on the radio. I better quit before I confuse myself. At any rate if there isn't any shielding in the head I would guess that this is a common problem. Maybe by hooking the cable up using the screw and remote mounting that will also do it. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again 73 John kcobmf

How do all ? I just finished a homebrew 6 meter antenna for the pickup and had alot of noise on 50.091 and 50.125 but I noticed that when I grabed the mike the noise reduced. I took my hand held an IC T90A on 50.125 and held under the dash next to the 706, with the 706 off I heard nothing but when I turned the 706 on there was the noise. The 706 has 2 places for the mike to plug in and I had it pluged in to the front or the remote head part. When I pluged it in to the back the noise was gone. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and any suggestions as to why. Thanks in advance

Why does copper mesh screen act as rfi sheild instead of an antenna? I use copper wire for a dipole and copper mesh screen is recomended for a rfi sheild. Thanks for any help in clearing this up for me.
