1  eHam Forums / Misc / ARRL Auction Registration Warning on: October 17, 2009, 05:18:59 AM
I am posting this to bring to your attention fraudulent activity in conjunction with the ARRL auction registration. I found my e-mail "NC2F@arrl.net" was already registered, without my knowledge. When I retrieved the password, the password that was used was a profane word. Had I not checked to register for the auction, my fear is someone may have placed a bid with the fraudulent registration, and ARRL would be sending me a bill for a bid a didn't place. Therefore I am sending this as a warning to tjose of you who may have "ARRL.net" e-mail alias' and somehow others could register your e-mail without your permission. I am guessing the fake registration could also be used to make false bids, which undermines the entire auction process.

So if you have an ARRL.net e-mail alias, I suggest you go and make sure yours hasn't been registered without your permission.

2  eHam Forums / Elmers / ANTENNAS AND THE ATTIC on: August 09, 2009, 06:13:56 AM
Randy, You can certainly put this to the test as many hams successfully work with antennas in a attic and laying on their roof. Inside you will want to be careful about RF getting into your house AC lines. How much power will you be running?
3  eHam Forums / Elmers / Ford F-150 VHF Antenna Mount on: July 25, 2009, 06:17:50 PM
On my '06 F-250 I used a bed stake mount that are commonly sold by the various screwdriver antenna makers. I used the open bed stake on the passenger side of the truck bed right behind the cab. Worked great. (I've since sold the truck, but would use the same solution again).
4  eHam Forums / Mods And Repairs / Carrying Handles: IC-718 and IC-736; Same Size? on: January 28, 2007, 07:04:33 PM
Does anyone know if the carrying handle on the iCom IC-718 can mount on an iCom IC-736? Or are they different lengths and don't line up with the mounting holes?

Thx!

Dennis
5  eHam Forums / Elmers / ICOM 746 repeatively blows ic151 (1678g) on: January 21, 2007, 07:41:51 AM
Yet iCom claims they fixed this problem?
6  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / WARNING on: December 17, 2006, 07:43:35 AM
I don't get it. Why would someone (W3FW) start a thread, make an accusation, and then not substantiate just exactly what the details of his claim are? In any other context isn't that slander?

I have bought (and sold) to this gentleman on eBay at least a few times and never was there a problem. If there was a hint of a problem, I would have left it in his feedback.

Those of you here trying to police the world from your computer with hearsay and innuendo simply need to "get-a-life", in my humble opinion.

I once used an aluminum extension to ercet a j-pole 45' in the air. It worked great. I secured it against my deck with ropes as a temporatry antenna. I used it for a bit longer than I intended to since I didn't use the ladder for much of anything else. Emphasis on temporary.

59 Electronics on Route 59 in Nanuet (right on the Spring Valley/Nanuet line) should be able to help you out. The entrance is on the westbound side, right before the Thruway overpass.
10  eHam Forums / Company Reviews / Ten-Tec (need to re-look your QA and sales attitud on: October 19, 2002, 08:56:07 AM
I agree with your point about having second thoughts after reading the posts here. I was recently in the market for a new HF rig. Shopping for a new rig is a fun and exciting time when you enjoy the hobby so much. I gave serious consideration to the Jupiter. I was most swayed by the capability of updating the rig making it a very flexible radio. Unfortunately, the experiences I have read on eHam left me less than assertive to order the Jupiter. Despite the fact that there is a 30-day money back guarantee to try the rig, I opted to not order the Ten-Tec. After much research, I opted for the Kenwood TS-2000.
