I've been working mostly 15meters on the way home from work in the afternoons, in my car. There hasn't been much happening on 15 in the mornings, though, so this morning before I left for work, I put the 20meter resonator/whip/hat on the mast. The band sounded like it was just opening, about a half-hour before local daylight (10:30Z). I could hear the Spanish-language group on 14250 weakly; went to a clear frequency and called CQ a few times. Got a reply from ZL. :-) The ZL was a good 5-7 on the car's old 706, and he said I was about 5-7 there, with some fading. A half-dozen or more years ago, I often used to work ZL/VK on 15 on my way to work, but I was going to work later in those days. I'm hoping we get that kind of propagation again! :-) http://www.duke.edu/~kuzen001/ac4rdmobile.htm

I'm sorry to hear about the change to WR Online; I've enjoyed reading it, but it isn't so great that I'm likely to shell out any large amount of money for access to the online version. I wonder if they'll tell us who "Kurt N. Sterba" is before the site changes?

.......and Paul Ruben took her to the movies.
Is he the one who invented the sandwich with sauerkraut and corned beef? Nope, that was the painter who liked voluptuous ladies who, it's been said, were waitresses in his deli. I didn't know that! That must be where the expression comes from, the one you hear when you're going to the deli for lunch: "Going Dutch."

The customer service is excellent, and their prices and shipping are great. And there's a LOT of useful information on their website, IMO. DX Engineering is consistently excellent!

I upload to both: eQSL and LotW on a daily basis. My "entity" score is better on LotW
This is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to thank you for picking me out of the noise the other day, Henk--it's been a LONG time since I was able to work VK on 12 meters--what fun! TNX ES 73! --ken ac4rd

Ten and twelve meters were great this weekend--what a great time it was! I got two all-time new countries, and a dozen or more that were new from the lawnmower rig. It's just been a fantastic weekend for DXing on the high bands!

Sam, just MHO, but if you are interested in working toward DX awards, LOTW is the only one worth bothering with. And despite what some people say, there is NOTHING confusing or complicated about it. Just follow the instructions and it's simple as can be. QSLing via LOTW is easy and it saves a fortune over getting paper QSLs for awards.

Marcus, I wasn't on in the morning, yesterday (Saturday), but in the afternoon, the propagation was great on 15-12-10meters. We had great openings to Europe and Africa from central North Carolina, south of you. So I don't know about your conditions in the morning, but if things still sound dead today, you may have a problem with your antenna or feedline. What bands were you trying yesterday?

10 Meters Today... WAS AMAZING!
Ten was great, you bet! And twelve meters was ... aaaah, it was dead. Yeah, that's it--twelve meters was dead. No need for you to compete with me on 12, not at all. You guys stay on ten. You wouldn't have ANY fun on twelve these days, honest. ;-) It has been YEARS since I had so much fun on the high bands!

I heard the pileup, but never had much of a chance from the car. It sounded like he's a good operator! Hoping to hear him again ... this time BEFORE he's on the cluster, when I still have a chance. :-)

I like 10 and 20, I love 15 meters ... but there is NO denying it: from my location, 12 meters in the afternoon has just been like Disneyland for Hams <tm>! ZD7FT has been handing out St Helena to the deserving, Svalbard and Crete and Market Reef looking for contacts .... Tons o' great openings to Europe and South America and Africa, just TONS of fun on 12 meters recently!

Simon, fifteen meters is getting livelier as the solar flux rises! I've been working 15 a lot from my car lately, and I've been working into Europe, South America, and Africa very nicely on 15m lately, with 80watts and a mobile antenna much like yours. Very soon you'll be having a great time on 15! (Though the amplifier will definitely make it easier for you to have a great time.) ;-) 73 and hope to hear you on 15 soon! --ken ac4rd

Just worked 4O3A on 10m CW at 1830. (at least I hope I did, he flies on CW... heh He was an honest 579 or 589 with QSB here near DC.
I've worked that station a handful of times while mobile--he's always got a huge signal and good ears. He must have a heck of a station!
