I am still prety new to this,I like to respond to hams that are contesting,I dont understand some of the info that is required,example,serial number,how do I know what my number is? Is there a specific site I can go to to find out more about this? Please note I am not involved in contesting I just like responding to those that are ,it can make for some great contacts. Need help setting up the 857 for repeater use. repeater output 443.700, input448.700, pl 131.8, 5Mhz seperation.I listen to the net on this repeater but can not transmitt. After transmitting I do not get a response,as I understand it I shoud atleast here an unmodulated repeater carrier for one or two seconds. The real promblem is,I am having trouble useing the menue.The users manual is some what confusing.Any help would be great,73 KD8DUG.

I am new to ham radio. I have a yaesu 857d, I am useing this as my base station. I live on the third floor of an apartment building. I have access to a balcony.I am thinking of buying ,from arrow antenna,the arrow || 146-4BP.Any one use this antenna,or one like it?any help would be great,thanks 73.

i am brand new to ham radio ,but i realy like amature electronic supply located just east of cleveland for me very exelent. they have different stores in different areas. they seem to stock most evry thing. they are very helpfull.

need info on comet gp15 antenna i now have a mfj window mount antenna ,it is exelent for 80 ,40,and 20 meters it is useless for 6and2metres and 70 centemeters i now have a tech license which means 50mhz and up ilive in an apartment on the third floor i have a balcony,i am located very very close to lake erie i just reaceived my license last june still alot to learn. i have the yaesu 857d. i have 8 feet to mess with on the balcony, iam thinking of getting the comet gp15 what do you think? any ideas or help would be great .73
