NA4IT, thanks for your reply. The CM550 comes with a box that takes 2 AAA batteries for the electret mic. This morning I rounded up an adapter to go from stereo to mono on the 1/8" plug that did the trick. Thanks very much for your reply and the link. 73, Will

Just got a new Yamaha CM500 headset and I now notice that the mic plug is stereo, where my ProSet mic plug is mono. The radio is a Kenwood TS-2000. Is that the reason the mic doesn't work on the Yamaha? Can I get an adapter to make the stereo plug monaural and will that do the trick? Thanks for any suggestions. Will, AE6YB

eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Mobile antenna

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The truck is a Dodge Dakota quad cab, the radio will be a Kenwood TS480SAT. I would like to work everything from 10 meters to 75/80 meters if I can. I'm not opposed to mounting and un-mounting the antenna due to height difficulties, but something reasonable would be desired. (I want to be able to drive under overpasses)
Thanks, Will

AE5JU Paul, I had a look at your link. Very impressive. I noticed that you are fairly close to other houses. Have you had any interference complaints from the neighbors?

Thanks for all of the in-put.
To N5LRZ, I have the Comcast 3 bundle deal - basic cable, internet and digital phone. That started at $33.00 each per month. It is now up to about $50.00 per month each, with taxes, my bill is $160.00 per month. My main concern was if the radio would interfere with the DSL, which it appears it might and will it interfere with the TV. Right now I'm only interfering with the stereo and VCR, which the family can live with. The TV would be a different story. The antenna is 50 feet away from the house, the best I can do with a small city lot.
Thanks,
Will

My cable bill is killing me. I am considering switching to DSL for internet and Broadband for TV. Will my radio interfere with the TV? All telephone lines are underground here. Thanks, Will

Unless I missed it, no one has mentioned what socialized medicine will do to our taxes. When I was in Canada 2 years ago, their sales tax was double what we pay here in California.

Thanks everybody, for all of the input. Since I have so much of it and it was free, I was thinking of using it for a 160 meter inverted L antenna. What if I didn't use the center conductor and used only the copper braid instead? What about connecting the center conductor to the braid on each end? Thanks again, Will

Just aquired about 500 feet of RG62, 93ohm cable. Could this be used for making choke baluns? Possibly anything else? Considering putting up a 160 meter inverted L antenna, would it work for that, as the actual antenna it's self? Tnx, Will AE6YB

I have read a number of articles where in the term "lid" has been used as a description of someone. What is a lid? I'm guessing it isn't good, from the context in the article. Tnx. Will, AE6YB
