I didn't write it. Found it on another site and gave credit to the author.
I just thought it was clever gag for April One....

Congress passed and today the President signed into law a bill dictating that a minimum of 27 sunspots will appear each month for the duration of this century. When asked how the federal government could guarantee sunspots, An unnamed source from the White House said "The amateur radio community represents a large voting block in America, and when polled indicated that they prefer sunspot days over spotless days. We also think it is unfair that some hams get their ticket in the down years and some in the up years...we want it fair for all, especially since it is so simple to sign a law and give the citizens what they desire. This is not just to benefit the hams in America, operators worldwide will benefit from the benevolence of our actions today, we have to think of the global community. This is indeed a great day for the amateur radio operators worldwide". When asked how the law will be enforced the informant answered "The sun has to comply... it is the law".
The change will take effect on April 1, 2009, but there is talk among the Washington insiders to make it retroactive to April 1 2001. If this action is taken, hams worldwide will have legal cause to log the QSOs that could have been, these log entries will count toward all awards.

1) If you haven't already done so, report it to the local police and have them 'dust' for fingerprints.
>>Cops don't even dust for prints anymore, even when it's a burglary or home invasion. Don't even ask, they'll just laugh at you. (It's like the old Seinfeld episode when Jerry asks the cop about all the things they should be doing to find his stolen car....but aren't doing. He finally says to the cop; "I'm never going to get my car back, am I?"<<
2) Ask your neighbors if they had seen anything suspicious. By the way, are your neighbors above suspicion?? Have any of the neighborhood kids expressed an interest in ham radio??
>>Neighbors don't want to "get involved. They might even think you're some kind of "secret agent" with all of those antennas and radios....<<
3) Check the local pawnshops, etc.
>>What pawnshop is gonna buy a ham radio??? A CB, yes. They are familiar with channels 1 though 40....<<
4) Periodically check eBay. If some crackhead stole it, it just may turn up there.
>>Best suggestion of them all....<<
BTW, this MIGHT be covered under your homeowners policy and not your auto insurance. You might wanna check. I had a ten meter stolen from my vehicle parked in my driveway years ago. They must've thought it was a CB. But it was covered under my homeowners policy instead of auto.

Can you believe this? I received an UNSOLICITED CATALOG today from AES!!!!! What gives them the right? How dare they take my callsign from a database and send this to me!!!! What about my right to privacy? And all this just because they want to sell me something!! The nerve!! This catalog will take time to dispose of. To top it off, this is going to fill up some landfill someday and probably stick around for hundreds of years!!! Why couldn't they have just sent me an unsolicited e-mail? I could have looked at it and after looking at it, delete it without filling up any landfills!!! And it would take less time, too!!!! Can you believe the nerve of these people? The TS-430S has an odd set-up for power output. The "MIC" is your power output for SSB while your "CAR" is your power adjustment for CW.
I was confused at first when I got my 430S around Christmas. I kept messing with the "CAR" to adjust the output on SSB. It doesn't matter if it's all the way to the right or left. Your output is determined by the "MIC" control....not the "CAR".
BTW, giving it a little processing helps.

Let Gus be heard. You, Bill, are not helping the situation at all. You are beginning to appear as a "troll." Although I don't agree with Ralph's tone on the subject; it SEEMS he has a valid complaint. ------------------------------------------------------- From Answers.com: **Posting derogatory messages about sensitive subjects on newsgroups and chat rooms to bait users into responding.** Doesn't this sound more like Ralph? ? Therefore, it looks as though I'm the one who took the bait. So now I'm going to tug and pull on Ralph's trolling line so hard, it'll yank his tiny fishing boat around in circles. Then I'll break the line....swim away....never to bother poor old Ralph the trolling fisherman again. But for right now, I'm yankin' on that trolling line and takin' Ralph on a nice ride across Lake BillyBob. I just can't stand hams who fly off the handle in these little "Stolen Gear" forums on QRZ.com, QTH.com and Eham.net. I wish each website would lay down a manner of decorum in which the accusers have to remain within respectable AND LEGAL guidelines. Libelous and defamatory terms would not be permitted. And, of course, vulgarity and threatening behavior would not be permitted. (Ralph has committed all of these acts so far....) People do NOT understand that posts such as Ralph's will remain on the Internet until the end of the Internet. That could be a VERY long time.... If there IS more to this story and Gus turns out to be the victim here, Ralph might have tarnished Gus's good name and reputation, leaving it stuck on Google forever and ever, Amen. There are just SO many ways to avoid being "scammed". All it takes is an ounce of prevention. I think Ralph is on the right track by going through PayPal. However, if he puts on a display with the PayPal people like he did in here, I can tell you who's favor they'll rule in. Lord help Ralph if he ever has any REAL problems life; i.e. family illnesses and/or death, loss of a job, stolen vehicle (my xyl's car was stolen last year...), home invasion, house burned to the ground, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes. Don't sweat the small stuff! Remain firm, don't "fly off the handle" and make a jackass of yourself. Just politely fight the fight. 73, Bill

You are a hoot, Ralph....
And I will extend the same invite to you. If you are ever up Michigan way, I'd be more than happy to introduce you to some of the locals. Since I was also born and raised in the south, we'll go down and chew the fat with "River Bob" and talk about the good ole days. Maybe we could even invite ole Gus since I've never, ever heard of the gentleman until you went bananas on here.
But Ralph....one question. WHERE is your good ole fashion southern hospitality?
I'm also a bit worried 'bout your health. Since you are four years older than me, you are at that age where heart troubles can happen in an instant. You are really going to have to curb your level of stress, Ralph. Life is too short to get this worked up.
Take time to stop and smell the bubble wrap....I mean roses....
73 and have a good weekend....

This looks simple to me. Why can't Gus give Ralph a full refund including the shipping? He can still pocket some money.
Now hold that thought- I don't know how much Gus had in the device. IF Gus' intentions were to make a few bucks by shoddy packing and collecting on the insurance knowing it would get broken- BAD BOY GUS! Shame on you! Why didn't I ever think of that? Oh I am just too honest, I suppose. ------------------------------------------------------ Don:
You are falling into that old trap that anything written on the Internet MUST be true.
Again, two sides to EVERY story.
You have not heard from Gus with his side. Be cautious. I've seen WAY too many of these Ralph-types yelling; "He's a fraud"! Then we find out the story is really the other way around....
