I enjoyed working both you guys in the ARQP!  Hopefully we can work this weekend in the TQP.  I'll miss working you in Culberson this year Scott but maybe I can catch you in San Saba.

48  eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: Hawaii QSO Party comming up on: August 23, 2010, 10:54:52 AM
This weekend I'm looking forward to the HI QSO party as well as the KS and OH QSO parties.  Hopefully there will be lots of activity in all three.

NO5W has recently added a multi-QSO party to his logging program, CQ/X.  With it you can log all three QSO parties.  One of the challenges is OH uses serial numbers whereas HI & KS use RST.  CQ/X determines whether to send a serial number or RST based on the county received.  Pretty cool!

CQ/X is free and can be downloaded from http://www.no5w.com/.

49  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: WF5E DX QSL Service on: August 23, 2010, 09:05:16 AM
Yes, WF5E DX QSL Service is still in business.  He switched to AT&T Uverse (or whatever it's called) a few months ago and must have failed to update his email address on the website.

His new email address is wf5e@yahoo.com

Try TCC connectors. Their stuff seems to work well.

Will they sell directly to consumers or do you have to go through a dealer?

53  eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: Logging software for QSO party? on: July 22, 2010, 07:24:19 AM
Yes, N1MM does support the NJQP.  Select QSOPARTY as the contest then choose NJ for the state.

Personally I enjoy using CQ/X de NO5W.  http://www.no5w.com/

You need PMapServer.

Follow these instructions.  http://wa8lmf.net/aprs/pmap8_notes.htm

55  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: Yaesu VX-5R DC power jack size? on: June 16, 2010, 09:36:19 AM
I think it's a 1.70 ID x 4.0 OD, assuming it's the same as on a VX-6R.  I've been buying that size for my old FT-530 and I just tried it in my VX-6R and it fits perfectly.  Also tried the VX-6R charger plug in my FT-530 and that fits.

Just powered up the VX-6R with the 1.7 x 4.0 plug and it works.

The Mouser part number for the one I've been buying is 171-3219-EX.

Google turned up this article.

I checked my cable and it is a 6 conductor straight through cable.

57  eHam Forums / DXing / RE: Faking QSO's and Non Stop Calling on: June 01, 2010, 07:40:10 AM
I think much of the incessant calling on CW is no code hams trying to use code readers to work DX in a pileup.  They can't decode the DX so just keep calling and calling.  They have no clue what is going on.
58  eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: Looking for Contest Software: Voice Memory Keyer on: May 30, 2010, 10:55:57 AM
N1MM handles that quite well.  The hard part is getting the levels set right and making sure you don't pick up hum between the computer and the rig.

59  eHam Forums / Contesting / RE: Arkansas QSO Party on: May 29, 2010, 06:58:20 PM
ARKAN has posted a summary of the 2010 rules on their website.  Looks like a few changes.

For one, there are no multipliers.  The score is just the sum of the QSO points.  I don't think I've ever seen any QSO party rules in which the counties aren't multipliers.  Pretty strange.

Info on the TT4 is at http://www.byonics.com/tinytrak4/.

There are two serial data in/out connections on J2.  You'll have to build a splitter cable with one going to the GPS and one going to the computer.
