1546  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / I got screwed on: October 10, 2007, 01:31:21 AM
Stick a "satellite dish" on a pole anywhere.  The cable going to it can be any ham antenna that you decide to create!  Do I hear "Bazooka Coaxial Dipole" anywhere?
1547  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / witch one and how would be the best on: October 08, 2007, 12:42:08 AM
Those trees could be awesome!  Put your antennas way up in the trees, and run the lowest loss coaxial cable you can afford over to them.

You may want to try experimenting with putting metal foil on the deck of your patio, either in some solid or sliced up fashion.  Heard that some hams have had good results tinkering with this approach in stealthy situations.

Or for a really simple solution, just use a switch to disconnect the speaker wires!
1550  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Ultimate rain gutter antenna - will it work on: October 04, 2007, 12:07:53 AM
Do you work for the FCC?
1551  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / mounting a medium size antenna to a 30 ft. mast??? on: October 01, 2007, 10:03:27 PM
If you use coupled solid steel bars with many strong guy wires, it might work.
1552  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Eve mounted dipole. on: September 26, 2007, 03:21:54 AM
Great news!  It just goes to show that fighting with landlords and HOAs is not always futile.  The more we stand up to those bast_rds, the less inclined they will be to keep on pushing us around.
1553  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Eve mounted dipole. on: September 24, 2007, 01:13:21 AM
Are you doing this because of HOA or CC&R restrictions?  You might have better luck with a stealth antenna away from the house...  such as a wire run up a tree with ground radials, a disguised ham antenna in the form of a look alike TV antenna, or a "satellite dish" on a pole with the "cable" actually being a ham antenna.  Don't forget the good ole "flagpole"!

ARRLBOOSTER does have a valid point.  It is unfair for a woman to totally run a mans life.  Marriage is supposed to be a 50/50 give and take relationship, where one spouse tries to work with and understand the others needs.  Just remember, wives may come and go, but a mans hobby of radio is his forever.
1555  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / XYL (Not HOA) Restrictions on: September 16, 2007, 03:01:56 PM
That happens to be a great solution.  Just tell the XYL that if she doesn't like the way your antenna looks, you will just hire an archetect and contractor to design and build a thing of beauty that blends beautifully into the house!  And tell her that the new $50K second mortgage will be well worth it! Smiley
1556  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Small Tri-band antenna for truck... on: September 16, 2007, 03:04:32 AM
What is the third band you want to use it on?
1557  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Quick antenna question.. on: September 15, 2007, 07:07:02 PM
Well for one, your signal may be slightly slanted!
1558  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / XYL (Not HOA) Restrictions on: September 05, 2007, 02:37:49 AM
I agee.  Any relationship where a gal does not like the way a guy's antenna looks, is headed for trouble.
1559  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / XYL (Not HOA) Restrictions on: September 03, 2007, 02:14:37 PM
By the way, I happen to think that antennas are true things of beauty.  Artistic creations of man that soar into the sky like majestic mountains or redwoods!
1560  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / XYL (Not HOA) Restrictions on: September 03, 2007, 02:10:35 PM
Fair enough, but if he does spend enough time with them then he should be allowed time for his hobby.  Better yet, let all the family members get ham tickets and then they will have lots more in common!
