1561  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / XYL (Not HOA) Restrictions on: September 01, 2007, 10:37:58 PM
A woman who is married to a ham operator should understand that his hobby is an important part of his life.  To deny him the ability to put up an antenna because she "doesn't like the way it looks" is just totally inconsiderate, rude and uncaring.  How would she like it if he didn't let her make a flower bed because he didn't like the way flowers looked?  It's childish, condecending and inconsiderate behavior, pure and simple.

Have you considered using coaxial bazooka vertical dipoles?  If you can get them up into those trees, you can have something stealthy and effective.

This is what happens when some men allow women to control their wrong "head"!  One cannot allow a woman to hold sex over ones head as a manipulative weapon.  You need to show her who is the boss, and make her understand that there are things in life that are much more important than just having ones backyard look perfect.  Many a ham has dumped his wife because she came between him and his hobby, and this is something that you unfortunately may have to consider.
1564  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / Which is the best triode tube? on: August 22, 2007, 06:24:50 PM
The best tube is a transistor!
1565  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / WHERE HAS ALL THE AM GONE? on: August 21, 2007, 12:56:57 PM
It was always quiet when "Powerman" would throw a dead carrier on CH 10 all night!
1566  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / WHERE HAS ALL THE AM GONE? on: August 17, 2007, 05:38:45 PM
AM is trying to make a comeback.  We just need to try to generate more interest in the mode.  Check out the websites devoted to AM.
1567  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Best end fed antenna on: August 14, 2007, 06:22:40 PM
Just throw up some coaxial bazooka vertical dipoles for each band!  They are inexpensive, and do the job nicely.
1568  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / WHERE HAS ALL THE AM GONE? on: August 13, 2007, 11:37:01 PM
Plenty of AM still on 11 meters! Smiley
1569  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Modified Yagi to look like TV antenna? on: August 06, 2007, 01:44:46 AM
I'll buy it for you.  Just send me a check!
1570  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / It works!! Indoor 80/40 meter antenna on: August 05, 2007, 10:46:11 PM
Sounds good!  Make sure you are not exposing yourself to unacceptable levels of RF in the unit however.
1571  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / need antenna recommandation. on: August 04, 2007, 11:42:19 PM
Leave the plastic on, and run it as long as feasable.  Get copper wire if possible.
1572  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Modified Yagi to look like TV antenna? on: July 30, 2007, 11:07:26 PM
Enclose the entire yagi in a plastic structure that looks like a round solar panel.  Just let those HOA SOBs attempt to stop you from trying to save energy!
1573  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Suggestions for Painting Coax on: July 23, 2007, 02:57:30 AM
Colored vinyl tape wrapped around your cable would also work.
1574  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Are new CC&Rs becoming less common? on: July 09, 2007, 11:41:02 AM
HOAs seem to be on the upswing.  The trick is to get to the builder before he puts the project together, and work out something in writing that allows your particular new unit to be exempt from the antenna restrictions.
1575  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / FLAG POLE ANTENNA IS LEGAL IN IL FOR HOA on: July 04, 2007, 07:19:45 PM
But the ACLU will back him if he promises to fly the Cuban or North Korean flags!
