1576  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / FLAG POLE ANTENNA IS LEGAL IN IL FOR HOA on: July 04, 2007, 04:59:22 PM
If the HOA tries to fight you, just get the ACLU involved and the HOA will go bankrupt from legal fees!
1577  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / FLAG POLE ANTENNA IS LEGAL IN IL FOR HOA on: July 03, 2007, 10:42:09 PM
It's difficult for them to restrict flag poles, because then it becomes a federal issue.
1578  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / 1 meter antenna restriction on: June 28, 2007, 04:46:39 PM
Make your own flagpole from wood, pipe or PVC.  Get it up nice and high!  Get the wife a fancy new dress.
1579  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Newbie question - antenna(s) for Icom IC - R7000 on: June 26, 2007, 01:42:06 PM
Start out with a long wire antenna draped in the attic, or get one outside around rhe house if you could.  You can then construct regular or coax attic dipoles for specific bands.
1580  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / 1 meter antenna restriction on: June 25, 2007, 02:23:34 PM
Any restrictions on "flagpoles"?  How about putting up an artificial tree with an antenna inside?
1581  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Reinstalling my towers. on: June 24, 2007, 01:52:54 PM
You may be able to change the outcome with more legal actions, but it could become quite costly.
1582  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / HOA caught up to me but... on: June 22, 2007, 06:48:56 PM
Don't worry.  If they make you take it down there are plenty of stealth antenna options you could use to stay on the air.
1583  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / Johnson Dark Maroon paint on: June 18, 2007, 05:53:30 PM
For an exact match, take the unit to a lab and have an analysis done to obtain the exact frequency of the reflected color.  You can then have the exact color custom made from the data.
1584  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / High School Trig Put to Use on: May 27, 2007, 09:05:24 PM
You might find it in the land records office for your county.
1585  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Antenna Restrictions in NYC on: May 27, 2007, 09:02:57 PM
Contact the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club in Nassau County.  They have hams from all over LI and NYC as members.  You can just Google their webpage.

Check out the old Heathkit CW and AM tube transmitters.  They are popular and fun to work on and play with!
1587  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Got SOme great news today. on: May 16, 2007, 06:34:51 PM
Better off to do it stealth using a "satellite dish" and "connecting wires".  The less they know, the better off you are!
1588  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Property value & antenna/tower statistic neede on: May 13, 2007, 07:57:58 PM
Try explaining to them that an antenna tower will INCREASE the value of the property to potential ham buyers!  One man's eyesore is another man's thing of beauty.
1589  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / "Sprinkler Stealth Antenna"? on: May 05, 2007, 05:33:00 PM
OK...  here's a new twist on beating that dreaded HOA and CC&R gestapo!  How about a homebrew vertical that doubles as a sprinkler and can be put out in the yard and taken in whenever the airwaves need "watering"?  It's basically a garden hose running to a base which supports a vertical rod.  The vertical consists of a hollow metal tube with holes in it at various points, which squirt out water in diferent directions along its length.  The "base" of the sprinkler is a round sort of thingy (sort of like a Christmas tree base) with a bunch of metal rods coming out a various points and lengths (radials) to support the vertical part of the "sprinkler".  What's funny is that it makes a pretty darn good sprinkler to boot! 1590  eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / 35 foot limitation on: April 27, 2007, 10:24:27 PM
Looks like ham real estate will definitely soon go up in value in that area! Smiley
