1  eHam Forums / Licensing / FCC Radiotelegraph Operator Licenses on: September 27, 2009, 02:51:40 PM
You will need to supply a copy of the old 20 wpm Extra license as well as your current one.  This will only get you past the morse elements.  You will still need to take the written elements 1, and 5, for a T-3 Certificate and additionally element 6 for a T-2 certificate.  The license period is 5 years.  The GROL was recently changed to a lifetime license from a 5 year term.

Hope this helps...

Yes it should be spelled "buddies", but this is appropriate to his personality at times. ;0)

Go for it before they stop offering it.  Be prepared to memorize lots of obscure Q signals and re-learn a lot about regenerative receivers and tubes.

Good Luck

It is spelled out in 47CFR-Part 13
13.9 eligibility
(2) an unexpired ( or withinthe grace period) FCC-issued Amateur Extra Class operator license : Telegraphy Elements 1 & 2

This has been interpreted by the COLEMS to mean the pre-5 wpm Extra Licenses.  Check the W5YI COLEM site for clarification.

I just got mine about 6 weeks ago this way.  One of my butties here thinks it is "cheating".  Unfortunately most of the COLEMS don't even offer the code tests at all.

You do not have to prove a need for the T-2 or T-3 Certificates.  If you have a current Amateur Extra License and took and passed the 20 wpm test, you don''t need to take the code test for T2 or T3.  You just submit a copy of your current and 20 wpm licenses, take elements 1 and 5 for a T3, Third Class Radiotelegraph Operator's Certificate or take elements 1, 5, and 6 for the T2, Second Class Radiotelegraph Operator's Certificate.  The T1 requires an additional morse test and service endorsement. If you didn't do the 20 wpm Extra, then you take a couple of sending / receiving tests.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone still produce software for the control of the older MFJ TNC's such as the 1276?  I need to operate with PACTOR for a BBS application.  For my Winlink I'm covered.

Thanks for any info in advance!

Does anyone have a schematic or kit source for a fox hunt transmitter, (either 6, 2 meter or 70 cm)?
I need a tracking transmitter.  Thanks...
