Once again I dug out dads decades old Hustler 5btv. It has been about two years since I last played with it. It has never impressed me performance wise. I have, over the 5 years that I have had it, tried on at least 4 occasions to get this thing to work as well as proclaimed by others. To no avail.
This time I decided to pry off the trap caps to see if something was wrong to cause this to spend most of its time in the weeds behind my heat pumpp. I figured if I destroyed anything I could toss the traps and use the tubing for something. Lo and behold I found the 15m trap cap to be split and found it to be pretty dirty looking as best I could tell. I cleaned out the dirt and gunk and put it back in the yard.
Finally I found it to have some promise. I currently have it ground mounted with (
34 foot long radials. Each radial is a twisted pair of 7 strand insulated wire 14 GA. As I set about to add 16 or so more radials I was wondering if there would be any benefit to tying the far ends together with a wire running the circumference of this "radial circle". And if so perhaps running other lines 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 the distance from the center. I have not been able to find any discussion on this and was curious if any one had any input on the practicality of doing so.
As always any "shots" are justified.
