If everything is correct, it should be working better with 100w vs 7 watts. Hook up your old radio & see if you can hear yourself on 20m, can hook up small wire for antenna. Use lowest power to check signal & audio. Check new radio with dummy load. Make sure your in USB for 20m voice. 73 K1WJ David

Glad to see you got a 100w radio - wise choice for starting out. Last week contacted a QRP station that answered my cq call - after 3 replies I got his call, 3 more times to get his name & state.....after that stated 73's & hope next time we contact I hope you have a 100w radio...... Contacts can be difficult at times on 100watts especially if your antenna is not ideal for the band in use. Next time you make some contacts with 100 watts, at some point in the QSO turn down to 5watts & ask the other station to do the same, you will see what your missing.......73 K1WJ David

Last I knew it was still E=IR, V for voltage - no big deal, still calculates the same. 73 K1WJ David

OK, did not mean to make you feel bad - are you using ladder line or coax with G5RV? If coax at radio, about 6-8ft from radio - take coax & put 10-12 turns around a 4.5 inch form to create a choke - I think this may help. 73 K1WJ

A rigid trap dipole is the same as the Hustler 4BTV vertical Because the 1st section of tube & trap from feed point is 10m. The adjustment of 10m will effect the adjustment of tubes & traps for the lower bands beacuse they are additive. Look up the cushcraft D3 install instructions = a trap dipole. Again the Hustler 4btv vertical install applies the same principals. Just do it..........73 K1WJ David

Start at the bottom of the antenna - 10m then 15m then 20m then 40m. Go to DX Engineering site & down load the Hustler 4BTV install instructions - that is how you do it, your dimensions will be different but basic principles still apply. 73 K1WJ David

How high will antenna be?
Ground mounted allows you to put as many radials & length that will fit.
If elevated 2 feet or higher at base of antenna, one 1/4w radial per band will work, even if all all on the same side, fan out a few inches from each other.
