It isn't my repeater, it belongs to the county. The EMA director and another got the ok to put it up, and got the frequency. From what i have heard, there a few, but very few frequencies left. I am having a tower put up, but nothing like they have. But i am in a good high clear from trees location... It isn't for a repeater, but my personal radios.....

eHam Forums / Elmers / FT-411e Question about battery/charger...
|
on: November 03, 2008, 05:00:51 AM

|
My wife kc9lks has a Yaesu ft-411e that she has been using a battery holder on, so i bough her a new FNB-14jh battery and off ebay i got a used Yaesu nc-28b charger. I hooked up on the charger to the battery while it was off the radio over night, but it didn't take charge.Do i need to have the radio attached for this battery to charge, or is this charger not compatible? The charger get slightly warm, so i assume it works fine.

I cut the + and the - from the end of the cable and hooked it up direct. It needed a new molex plug anyway, or i believe that is what they are called. Now the ICOM is up and running.
thanks all kc9lkw Roy

I would only cut it as a last resort. I thought i may also make an adapter using a cigarette plug outlet, that way, i could change radios easier if i need to. I still would like to know if anyone knows if it is compatible as it is? It would be nice to just be able to plug it in. It would be a while before i could get an adapter made....

eHam Forums / Elmers / KENWOOD PS-430 SUPPLY / IC-718 RADIO HELP!!!

I am expecting my IC-718 today or tomorrow, and all i have to run it is a Kenwood ps-430. It seems to have the same plug type on it from what i have seen, but would i be lucky enough for it to plug right into the IC-718, or will i need to rewire? If i need to rewire, how do i do it to make it IC-718 ready? I have been off the air for a month or so, and am having withdraws. I could make a few cuts and splices to do it, but rather not do it that way unless i have to.

I looked in the manual, schematics, and did a search on the net, and i must be using the wrong phrases or something. What model of back-up battery do i need for the memory in a Kenwood ts-430s? The one in my radio went south i believe, and i want to know what it is, and where it is before i open the radio.
Thanks kc9lkw Roy

I put may be a 30' radial on the tuner, and now the buttons seem to get warm, but not hot. Should i go longer, or add another radial? If i add another radial, which direction do i go compaired to the one i have now?

I thought it may help my RFI in my station, but i guess now that it would be better for protection for lightening. I will try a underground radial again, may be i did it wrong the first time some how. For RFI in the station, would i hook the radial to the ground rod and go out, or would i hook it to tuner? Some buttons are still getting hot during tuning.

I have a question. I have a spring fed well in my yard that hasn't been used in 40 years, and never will again. Can i run a copper wire underground, and to the bottom of the well to get a good ground? It is almost always full of water, and is 22 feet deep. The only problem is it is 50 feet or so from my station. I figure if i go threw the floor, and immediately in the ground to the well, that may work well. What do you all think?

I got 90% of the RF out of the station now, but now i have another weird problem.. Now when i take my hand close to the tuner to tune it, the swr meter needle swings way up with my not touching it, when i take my hand back away, it goes back to where it was. I am wondering now if i am possessed... ;-)
