1  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / RE: Antenna rotor control software on: October 05, 2012, 10:26:26 AM
Meanwhile, the PstRotator and PstRotatorAz programs http://www.qsl.net/yo3dmu/index_Page346.htm have been continuously developed . A lot of new features are available: Google Maps, remote control over Internet via a Web page or program running in client mode, support for SteppIR and UltraBeam antennas. Some other rotors and many other loggers are supported now. And many others features...
Just take a look over the program reviews: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/8733
Or better download the programs and try them.

2  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / RE: Full control for the SteppIR antennas (rotor & SDA100 controller) on: August 28, 2011, 05:03:17 AM
At this moment the PstRotatorAz program knows:
- to control the antenna rotator
- to control the SteppIR SDA controller
- remote control over TCP/IP for both rotator and SteppIR SDA controller. In the remote site could be not only a PC running PstRotatorAz as server, but also a serial server (Ethernet to RS232 converter).
- full support for the Win-Test and N1MM contest loggers - PstRotatorAz receives the UDP messages from Win-Test or N1MM, and uses the azimuth and frequency information to control the rotator and the SteppIR SDA controller.
- bi-directionality mode for rotor control when the SteppIR antenna is in Bi-Dir mode. For example, if antenna is on 80 deg and the new direction is 270 deg, antenna will be rotated to 90 deg, and not to 270 deg.

5  eHam Forums / Computers And Software / Full control for the SteppIR antennas (rotor & SDA100 controller) on: June 13, 2011, 02:30:16 AM
The PstRotatorAz program provides full control for the SteppIR antenas (rotor & SDA100 controller), inclusive remote control over IP.
You can download and test it from: http://www.qsl.net/yo3dmu/index_Page346.htm

- Use a null modem cable between PC and the DATA-OUT SteppIR connector.
- Set the serial port: Communication / SteppIR COM Port.
- Check Setup / SteppIR Controller.
- A "SteppIR Controller" window will be opened. From there you have all the control over the SteppIR controller.

For remote over IP operation:
- You have to install the same PstRotatorAz in both remote and base station locations.
- Set Communication/TCP Client to the base station.
- Configure the IP address for Client, and the Ports for both Server and Client.
At the remote site can be used a serial server, not only a PC.

Any feedback or ideea for improvement is wellcome.
6  eHam Forums / Satellites / PstRotator can now accept Az/El data from Gpredict on: June 13, 2011, 02:21:15 AM
The PstRotator program can now accept Az/El data from Gpredict.
PstRotator is a program for antenna rotators control, and can be downloaded from
http://www.qsl.net/yo3dmu/index_Page346.htm

Gpredict (Windows version) can be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpredict/files/Gpredict/

The communication between programs is TCP/IP, so the programs can run on the same PC, or on different PCs in a network.

PstRotator settings: select Gpredict as Tracker, and set the Tracking mode. The default IP port is 4533, but can be changed from "Setup/Trackers Setup/Gpredict Setup...".

Gpredict settings: "Edit/Preferences/Interfaces/Rotators". Add a rotator and set "localhost" to Host if the programs run on the same computer, or the computer IP where the PstRotator is running if this is not on the same PC.

Go to "Module options / Shortcuts" (you can find it to the up & right corner of the main Gpredict window) and open the "Antenna Control" window. Press the "Engage" button to connect Gpredict to PstRotator.
For satellites tracking select a satellite in view and press the "Track" button.

I hope somebody will find usefull the PstRotator program. It can be downloaded from
www.qsl.net/yo3dmu/index_Page346.htm
PstRotator handles just about every controllable rotator in common use: Prosistel "D" and "C", RT-20 and RT-21 Green Heron, DCU-1 HyGain, RC1 MDS, Rotor-EZ Idiom Press, Easy-Rotor-Control, Yaesu Az and Yaesu Az/El GS-232A and GS-232B, M2 RC2800, AlfaSpid RAK Az and RAS Az/El, Easycomm, ST3 Fox Delta, Endeavour Electronics AutoTracker, ZL1BPU, EGIS, Create RAC825, EA4TX Arswin, DL7AOT, LBV Tracker, PrimeSat and VK5DJ.
PstRotator provides automatic tracking for satelites and EME, using for this WXtrack, WinOrbit, Orbitron, Nova for Windows, Sat_Explorer, SatPC32, WSJT, Z-Track, GJTracker, EME System, Trak_SM, or HRD Satellite Tracker. Also it works with some contest loggers like N1MM, TACLog and Win-Test. Other programs supported are MixW, DXView and VQLog.
Tracking the moon is easier now using an internal algorithm.
PstRotator supports multiuser remote control over TCP/IP.
