eHam Forums / Elmers / Revised coax vs 7/8 hard line

I will be using 7/8 hard line feeding 2 32-19b cushcraft ssb boomers (19 db gain ) for 2 meter ssb. Will I really see a difference such as hearing a station or not as compared to 9913 for a 100 ft run.

If I use 100ft of 7/8 hardline with about .05 loss at 144 Mhz then go to a remote coax switch to all my HF and VHF antennas have I defeated the purpose of the hard line for VHF as compared to 9913 cable.

eHam Forums / Elmers / Receive preamp for 2 Meters

I am looking for a receive preamp for 2 meters that I can mast mount just under my antenna so I do not have to worry about line loss. But I can not find any that can take 400 watts. I will be using 80 ft of 9913 flex coax and the antennas will be 2 32-19-B Cushcraft boomer antennas stacked at 60 ft. So Help me out if you know of one or how to make one.

I will be putting up a 50ft tower this week. And I would like to know if I can coil up 25 ft 1/2 inch copper tubing at the bottom of the hole pore concrete over the tubing. The tubing will pass thru the concrete. The hole is 6x6x3&1/2 ft. I will seal the tubing so no water will get in. Will this work. I live on a high hill and we have lots of rock so driving a ground rod is out of the question.

160 Meters all the time. 80 Meters day 80% night 40% 40 Meters day 30% night 90% 20 Meters day 30% night 50% 15 Meters day 30% night 60% 10 Meters no power needed 6 100 watts or more needed for E skip and 200+ Mi ground wave. 2 Meters SSB 100% of the time. Power is a must for 200+ Mi ground wave and band openings. On 2 and 6 the antenna is just as important or more so but few hundred watts helps out.
I run my amp with 40 to 50 watts drive to get 500 to 600 out.

Just learn the code, its just 5 WPM. I went from 5 to 13 in just 28 days. Put the cw tape in your car and play it to and from work every day. even the days you don't want to. You will learn it that way. Play it until you are sick of it. That is the only way you will learn the code. Get your general and never use code again. LEARN THE CODE TO TALK. Doug

I had a 40 ft above ground Rohn 55g up no guy wires. It was in 6Ft of concrete and it had a Hy-Gain Th6 on it. Never had a problem. I live in Oklahome and we get lots of wind in thunder storms. But I would not go over 40 ft.

The problen is worse on 80/40 but is noticeable on 20 as well.

eHam Forums / Elmers / MFJ 989C arc's on 160

I just bought a 160-80-40 trap dipole and I can find a resonate spot for 80 & 40 but not under 7 to 1 on 160. So when I use the tuner it on 160 It will let me tune to a 1 to 1 SWR but if I run more than 250-300 watts it arc's bad. I am assuming I will need to put up a resonate 160 dipole. ANY IDEAS

Can anyone tell me what years the Kenwood TL 922-A was produced. And how to estimate about when in that time frame this amp was made by the serial No.
