1  eHam Forums / Misc / Marine batteries as backup on: March 28, 2009, 03:26:59 AM
What's a good automatic charger?  Is it silent or does it have a cooling fan?

Thanks for the response. Do you have any brand/dealer recommendations?

Does anyone know if the Maxx brand of marine deep charge batteries available at Walmart could be used safely indoors as a station backup emergency battery?

Brilliant advise.
5  eHam Forums / Misc / Custom Badge on: August 12, 2008, 08:25:42 PM
I'd like to find someone who makes custom metal badges.  I just need a half-inch high by a inch wide metal badge with my call sign, and a safety pin on the back for attaching to my jacket at work.  Nothing fancy.

Any leads?  Thanks-
6  eHam Forums / Misc / Source for tools, soldering equipment, etc. on: December 07, 2007, 10:24:35 AM
Been out of the hobby for awhile and I would like your recommendations for tools (needle nose pliers, diagonal cutters, soldering irons, etc.) and an online source to buy them.  To be used primarily for kit building.

Thanks for your time-

Maybe 50 ft.

Opinions and suggestions wanted concerning antennas for 160m operation.  Space isn't much of a problem although I do not have a tower as of yet.  Thinking sloper or bazooka from a tree.  Commercial antennas are fine.

Ok, forget the sea-level bit.  I still have a lot to learn about Kentucky (but I know where Barren River Lake is and that's where you'll find me when I'm not on the radio).

I may find myself soon with the unexpected dream of unlimited antenna space.  If you had, say, 25 acres or so to play with, what would you put up for the low bands?  Vertical, wire and directional suggestions are sought.  It would be located in south-central Kentucky at sea level.

Remember, I said unlimited space, not unlimited funds! Smiley

Tnx,

13  eHam Forums / Elmers / Headphone recommendation for portable use on: August 06, 2003, 05:45:17 PM
Working QRP is fun but finding a good, efficient set of portable headphones seems to be a challenge. The low audio output of most QRP kits doesn't work well with my Koss ear buds, but their size makes them great for the traveling operator.

Anyone have a recommendation for some good performance headphones, buds, etc., that would fit in your pocket?
