Thank you all very much.I just would like to see if I found something worthy or not.I have waited 5+ years to get to testing this Amp.Getting back into the amateur radio hobby was a good choice.Lots of fun here.Maybe catch up with you on 10 meters. N2NXZ
108  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / SB200 onTS-520SE? on: January 10, 2007, 07:10:20 AM
I guess I could have been more specific in my desription, but didnt want to write a book about the SB200 find.I used to work at a computer recycling company. We used to get tons of electronic equipment. There were several employees who handle the equipment and many times, only what was seen as value to them was kept to save warehouse space.Alot of good things were tossed out in the trash,If the SB200 wasnt sitting on top of the full dumpster,it would be gone today.I asked if I could take it out and keep it,one of my bosses said yes.I did open it to see if it was stripped, burned or mangled with obvious damage.I saw nothing of the sort, not even dust, looks like new on the interior and there is no burnt smell about it.Later during my employment,I had noticed the Heathkit receiver and transmitter collecting dust on the shelf. But when I asked to buy it,they declined me and wanted to place it on EBay.It sat there for years and I no longer work at the place anymore.I had the SB200 for 5 years now.It lights up,fan runs. But of course I would not just plug it in and just key down twisting knobs all over the place...:)Anyhow.Some of the equipment had probably been thrown away by local college here in Rochester. As I had mentioned, you wouldnt believe what large companies have thrown away.I truly believe this SB200 to be a truly great find and is worthy of a test. Thanks for your comments and hopefully someone can tell me more on the hookup method to the TS-520SE for the SB200 .Thanks for any other replies. Believe it or not,I found an SB200 in excellent condition in a dumpster.Whos the nut?Anyhow,I want to test it on my TS-520SE.I dont understand why a phono type input jack, and according to research online,I am supposed to also connect an ALC and ANT RELAY?Or do I just use the INPUT?I dont want to fry something.I have the manual from the internet, but it shows HEATHKIT transmitter hookups only.Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to add another band to the TS-520SE?I am not very familiar with this rig,I had just bought it and it works very well.I was just curious about adding another band as I see the AUX position on the band switch.

113  eHam Forums / Clubs / Is this a joke? on: January 09, 2007, 10:12:51 PM
I guess I figured that all ham operators use the same rules and frequencies.Color, religion or sexual preferences dont seem to be necessary. The best part of being a Ham operator is the fact that none of that kind of stuff really matters.Ugly ,Fat ,Bald...All 3?Whats the point ?

115  eHam Forums / Elmers / Kenwood TS520SE Troubles - on: January 06, 2007, 07:48:23 PM
I am about to purchase a TS-520SE from a gentlemen who knows nothing about radios.I have been a licensed ham for 15 years and this would be my first good rig.I have it on now and it receives very well.Only thing is,I wish I knew more about these rigs and where the buttons and switches should be right off tha bat.I realize there is tuning and options to try while operating this radio, but for now to know alittle bit, where should I start with all the controls?I also have the AT-200 tuner. These people online want ridiculous price for the manuals.I am sure I can figure it out eventually, but not having purchased it yet would like to get the tesing out of the way.Anyone who can give me a few tips would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.N2NXZ Jim         email:  jimmyz2k@yahoo.com

Well that answers it.I am familiar with the number stations since I have monitored shortwave in the last 20 years or so.I didnt know it occurred on CW as well.I am wondering if anyone or groups of people in the world today actually know what it all means?(besides those behind it)Who knows, these kinds of things make for intertesting radio. Thanks for all the tips all.N2NXZ

I am hoping someone will read this and have the one page that turned up missing from my Bill Cheek`s Ultimate Scanner book. Its the page with the crystal oscillator schematic, yes, sounds silly, but it is one of the best oscillators I have found that works as well as it does without hunting the earth for parts and having pages missing from a good book like that is a shame.Be sure to label the e-mail subject Scanner. That will save me opening all the crazy mail I get...lol.I would be greatful to anyone who can e-mail it to me.Tnx
