Pete;
It is OK for you to ask if you are interfering with a QSO on the frequency. Sometimes you just can't hear other stations on your frequency. Conditions on 10 can change in minutes.

I might suggest that you try answering a CQ instead of calling CQ yourself. Usually on 10 if you can hear him, he can hear you.

Have fun and don't get upset over stuff like that!
