61  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: What Causes 'Sweepers' on: November 24, 2012, 10:24:39 AM

Chicken Man!  Thanks for the reminder, I haven't thought about Chicken Man in eons.
62  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: How much CB is still out there? on: November 20, 2012, 11:55:06 AM
The rf does not know if its electrons are being used on a ham band or cb....Smiley

Some of the CB operators apparently don't know either  Grin

You win, you were the first to leave a negative comment, and on only the second reply to the thread!

Negative comment?  More like a very funny comment.
63  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: What's with the value of unbuilt Heathkits? on: November 13, 2012, 07:53:28 AM
Good one!   Smiley

Wonder what my still in the box Ramsey FX-146 2 meter transceiver kit is worth?  Not much I suspect.
65  eHam Forums / Software Defined Radio / RE: Apache Labs Hermes is shipping on: November 02, 2012, 08:00:20 AM
Looks like things have heated up on the apache labs yahoo group:

>>>> Hope to fire a few packets at my Hermes on Saturday. Wouldn't mid
>>>> firing
>>>> something else at all the naysayers on eHam.
>>>>
>>>> Simon G4ELI/HB9DRV

Silly comments like that and threatening comments from the so-called head of the Legal department confusing libel and slander certainly don't motivate me to buy this radio.
66  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / RE: W8JI - Is it worth buying a new Ameritron AL-80B? on: November 01, 2012, 08:14:25 AM
While I took the stand with Tom and agree'd that I do not record the failures as I should and can't add to his numbers with facts based on verbals , I am now recording everything MFJ related and am sure the numbers will reflect the truth to come...

However another troublemaker fixing his own...

Collecting anecdotal information from internet forums is a lousy way to make an empirical argument.  It's kind of like calling Entertainment Tonight an investigative journalism program.
67  eHam Forums / Elmers / RE: As someone who listens about 95% of the time and talks 2% of the time..... (SDR) on: October 19, 2012, 03:23:57 PM
I'd keep the 746 and consider adding an SDR to my station.  Something like the QuickSilver QS1R.
68  eHam Forums / Emergency Communications / RE: The ongoing push of Ham Radio to EMCOMM on: October 08, 2012, 07:46:42 AM
Further, I am not seeing all these "whackers" that you keep talking about in ham radio. I think they may be a figment of your imagination.  Roll Eyes

I see one at the very least.    Wink
69  eHam Forums / Station Building / RE: Flourescent or Incadescant? on: October 03, 2012, 09:20:35 PM
I have plenty of fluorescent and CFL around the house, including the shack. I haven't noticed any "hash". However, none of my antennas are located directly over or close to the house. I did use a portable AM broadcast radio to test for RF hash from the fluorescent lights in the shack. I had to be less than a foot away from the fixture in order to hear any hash.

Same here.  And my CFL bulbs have been working just fine for years.  No problems with reliability whatsoever.
70  eHam Forums / Antennas and Towers and more / RE: Inadvertant hijacking of eham threads Proverbs from W5wss on: September 27, 2012, 01:16:01 PM
My miniature pinscher certainly has an agenda!
71  eHam Forums / Site Talk / RE: No Porno ads please! on: September 18, 2012, 01:33:41 PM
Google also tracks your browsing and search history to place ADs.  Just sayin...

Anonymously, of course.
72  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Professional Women reject Ham Radio. As they should on: September 17, 2012, 12:57:06 PM
Professional women don't reject amateur radio.  They just reject WA4D.   Wink

There are some men out there that reject his ways of thinking too!    Grin

LOL!

And, we have at least one professional woman who regularly posts on eHAM, if I'm not mistaken.
73  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: New Tech licensee, new to eham on: September 15, 2012, 10:37:53 AM
Congratulations and welcome, Bryan.  Good luck with the General exam.
74  eHam Forums / Emergency Communications / RE: Big Nuclear booms Come? on: August 24, 2012, 07:44:40 PM
The D students have taken over.  Look at the success of The Kardashians and Jersey Shore, etc. celebrating stupidity.  Then there's Congress...
75  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Understanding eHam.net reviews on: August 24, 2012, 11:15:51 AM
