1  eHam Forums / CW / Recognised international QRS frequencies on: November 21, 2009, 11:01:05 PM
Hi All,

Just wondering as i am finding my way again in CW...

CW was the reason i obtained my licence, and have now began after 20 yrs to start "playing " again.

I gained my licence using a straight key, and now have treated myself to a Begali magnetic Pro paddle.

I have HRD setup via winkey and it works beautiful. Use HRD as the backup decoder only and focussing on the brain doing the work..

Anyway slow morse recognised frequencies especially on 40M and 20M..can anyone give me the heads up?

thanks for your help,

Derek VK2YN formerly VK2JAF
2  eHam Forums / CW / Moving from straight key..to paddle operation.. on: November 09, 2009, 10:29:35 PM
Hi all,

Having gained my licence originally using a straight key..i am now dabbling in iambic paddle operation.

I would be really interested to hear the techniques that you used in making the transition...

i am left handed and use the paddle in "traditional" rather than reverse mode...i suppose like the straight key..practice practice and more practice is the key...

apreciate you input,

Derek VK2YN formerly VK2JAF..

be interested in feedback from anyone using one in any environment

5  eHam Forums / Mobile Ham / Detuning effect of trees in a mobile installation on: February 01, 2009, 02:05:12 AM
Hello from Down under,

Just playing with mobile installation, and am noticing the effect of low hanging trees affecting "tunability" of mobile antennas for mobile installations..

Icom 7000..various commercial antennas..if in open can tune OK, however if sitting under low hanging trees..difficulty encountered..

be interested in any information on this topic,

regards,

Derek VK2JAF
