I just worked W4S in Pigeon Forge, TN at the Titanic Special Event. I still can not find any England stations to work. Do any of you guys have the frequencies they were on? I have been studying the Titanic since I was a kid. So this is really important for me to be involved in the 100th anniversary of the Titanic Sinking.

I have been fascinated by the whole Titanic disaster since I was a kid. I now have my Generals license and I am wondering if there are any special stations set up this weekend that I might be able to work? Are there any stations that reenactment of the actual transmissions of the disaster?
Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone, I was wanting input on which radio that you all would rather have. I had a Yaesu FT-450D and it would not tune my G5RV. So I am looking to buy a new radio, I have narrowed it down to 3. The Kenwood 480Sat, Yaesu-897D or a Yaesu FT-920? I would love to have 2 meters in the radio but I can live with out it. I want to work DX and want a great receiver. I would love a built in tuner but with the 897 I would need a external tuner. What do you guys suggest?
Thanks and 73's KI4SJU

Thanks for the input! How many radials do you have out under the btv? I was told there is a menu option in the FT-450D that I can adjust the tuners width. Not sure about doing that tho. Do any of you all know if anyone has a 5btvopening for sale? I will be moving to a new home in a few weeks and will have a full back yard to place the antenna.

Hi everyone, I just got my license upgraded in October and I got a new radio two days ago. I got a Yaesu FT-450D and I have a MFJ G5RV up and my tuner will not tune theon G5RV. I had a older Icom 706 mkiig and a ldg tuner and it tuned the G5RV just fine. I have was told to try a vertical antenna or buy a ldg tuner. Not sure which way to go? Risk buying a vertical and hope the internal tuner in the 450450d will tune it, or buy a external tuner? Does anyone know how well the FT-450D does with a Hustler 5BTV? Any advise is appreciated.

I am looking at getting a MFJ g5rv for my ham shack. I really don't have any place to mount it but on a vent pipe made of PVC that I modified. "Made it Taller" The problem I have is that my apartment is on the back side of where the vent pipe is located at, so my ladder line will not be straight down into my apartment I will have to add coax and run it up to the ladder line. I hear ladder line does not perform well if it is laying on the roof. I am adding a link for a picture of where my antenna is going to mount, can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks alot http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/btlacer/DSCF085415.jpgKI4SJU

Hello everyone! Well I passed my element 3 test yesterday and I am wanting to get on the air! LOL I live in a one story apartment building. They will let me put up a antenna and I really don't have enough room to sting up a wire so I am looking at a vertical. Is there a vertical that anyone would suggest? I am wanting to work 10-80 meters. I am wanting to keep the price under $300. I have a metal stand outside that I built which is approx. 4 feet tall, I then have a galz. pipe inside the stand which is attached to the ground rod. This is where the antenna will mount. I currently have a Solarcon A-99 install on the mount. Here is what it looks like so you all can give me some ideas. Thanks for the help! 73's KI4SJU http:// http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p79/btlacer/DSC03167.jpg

Does anyone have the menu list for the TK 760 H? I know to field program the TK-760 H, After you program the frequencies in there are 4 more steps. One says add or delete, then on or off, then h or L and then UU or n. What are these? I also can not get mine to scan, how do you get it to scan? Thanks Beau KI4SJU

Thanks for the help. I still have a question. Would I beable to take a copper pipe and hammer it into the ground for a ground rod? Will that work? How would I attach the ground wire to the antenna? Would I Attach it to the U bolts that mounts the antenna to the galv. steel pipe? Thanks so much!

Hello all, I just got my first HF Rig. I got a Icom-718. I am using a I Max 2000 10 meter antenna. I live in an apartment complex and got permission to leave the antenna outside as long as it is not attached to the appartment. The antenna is mounted on a galv. steel pipe that is stuck in a metal base I built. On 28.300 to 28.500 I am getting a on and off interference, it's like "hiss---hiss---hiss---hiss" I have no idea how to get rid of it. Do you think grounding it would work? I am new to this so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks 73's KI4SJU

I live in a apartment complex that is a one level structure. I have no tress or poles around my appartment to string up a antenna. My apartment does not allow antennas. My apartment has plastic siding and has alumnium gutters. My question is can I run a long wire along the roof of my apartment or under the shingles of my appartment and still have the antenna work well? Does it have to be hung up? thanks alot for your help.

eHam Forums / Antenna Restrictions / Long wire Antenna for appartment?

I have just bought a RADIO SHACK DX-394. I live in a appartment and need a antenna. I have some spare RG 58 coax. Can I use that for the long wire antenna? Would I just string it up in my attic? or could I hide it outside behind the plastic siding close to my gutters? I need a antenna for almost nothing. I have some old extension cords that I could cut. Would I add them to the other end of the rg 58 coax? Any help. Please!!!
Thanks KI4SJU
