There's more to it than just a simple cable. There is a level converter involved in the system also. You might want to give a look at PIEXX for this prebuilt one.

2  eHam Forums / Repeaters / RE: Cross Band Repeater Rules and Frequencies on: January 07, 2013, 08:30:48 AM
On the ID issue, that only becomes a problem in full crossband repeat. If you do a one way only crossband then you don't have that issue. If you ONLY use your crossband radio to increase your HT's talk power into a repeater but listen to the repeater directly using your HT and not crossbanding the repeater your normal ID will cover everything. The second you start crossbanding the repeater back to your HT then you have the ID issue. I used a Byonics PicCon (http://www.byonics.com/piccon/) and a low power HT to ID for my crossband radio. Lately I just do one direction crossband and don't have that extra ID worry.

And the seller's return address label read,  "The Reverend Whatever-it-was."  :-)  GREAT ethics, preacher-man.  :-/

I used to work in a GM car dealership. The General Manager once told me that you should "never do business with anyone whose profession starts with the letter 'P'. Never deal with a Preacher, a Politician, or a Prostitute"  He would also say "I'm not prejudiced, I hate all minority's equally."  Roll Eyes

I always took EVERYTHING that man said with a grain of salt.

Your mileage may vary!

For me Field Day lost it's magic after I upgraded from Tech and could get on HF any time I wanted to.

OK gang, we have made it over "hump day" and it won't be much longer until the 51st Hoosier Hills Hamfest. This year we are going to have Lou Everett WA5LOU our ARRL Indiana Section Manager at the hamfest running the ARRL table. He will also be presenting a forum at 10 am so you don't want to miss out on this years hamfest. Come on out to the Lawrence County (IN) Fairgrounds on Saturday Oct 6th and Ham It Up!
10  eHam Forums / Licensing / RE: Who can pay for licensing fee? on: September 26, 2012, 04:41:58 PM
It don't matter who pays the VE fee just so the test fee is paid. As for him being in EMA and the EMA office having a ham radio it's not a big deal unless he is a PAID EMA member. When I was in EMA only the director was paid, all the rest of us were volunteers, even the officers.

Door prizes from the ARRL have just arrived. We will be giving away two $50 and two $25 gift certificates good at the ARRL online store. Plus we will be giving away as our grand prize $250. You don't want to miss this years Hoosier Hills Hamfest!

Just two more weeks to go until hamfest time. If you use Google Maps or any other online map please look up Bedford Indiana then use the map on the Hoosier Hills Ham Club's website to locate the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. Online maps do not show the correct placement of the address.
73 and hope to see you at the hamfest!
15  eHam Forums / APRS / RE: Private aprs on alternate frequency? on: September 16, 2012, 01:00:23 PM
If you look at the ARRL bandplan for 2 meters 145.5 to 145.8 is listed as miscellaneous and experimental modes. I run an EchoLink simplex link at 145.72 in Lawrence Co. Indiana. There is no one else in that area at all it's always silent. You might give that slot a listen and see if that would work for you.
