HI, Gosh, just being able to get on 40, 6, and l5, I miss all the fun. In tallhassee we used to have the local nut case, King love, a guy t hat wore a robe and thought he was a dcedent of royality or something , basicly harmless.I got a kick out of putting  all the fruitcakes iin one freq or basket, trouble is they would be like fruitcakes , you could drop them from a high building , and they still wouldn't break . Get on the freq, and tell the guy he should be able to get an american family radio franchise cheap after the missed doomsday  scenaro. hi, know this won't help, but I had an audiovox fm converter I used to use in my 69 dodge coronet with the bendix am radio in it . The thing worked great, wasn't fm stero , but with the bendix radio it would pick up all over. Not much bigger than a penlight battery but was pretty cool .don't know if audiovox made converters for other bands , but it  worked good, connected beween car antenna and am radio , think you had to tune to 1600 kc on am , use to set button and be all set for fm , cool at time . kg4ymc by the way audivox used to make good radios and stuff, don't know if they still are good or not , bendix was great also, but had to put havey duty output transiter in am radio in dodge , for some reason kept going out , use to have to drop part of  ac ductwork to get radio out .... ah the memories...

I don't remeber if this happen at the same time, but we had lightning hit the house in ocala ,  my brother was checking the house at time time , and it had hit a fusebox, and had blown afuse right out of the box, would have caught the house on fire , don't know if that was when dad compass freak out , but sure there was some magnetic fields havining a fit then .  NOt related, but there actually is a Tates hell'  forest nearby . a guy named tate got lost in it , said he was in " hell till resuced, don't know if he had a bad compass or not . anway I need a job , to much time to think of old interesting stuff, fascinating and thanks for the imput . kg4ymc

I agree, mother nature can be a real bitch, just ask farther God . I think mabey the weather channel is on the right track with odds and probabability . but if conditions are right it can go from conditions to warning  real quick I guess. I can see the overhype angle , just think of what would happen if  fox the weather channel , and nataline woods or this chery anthoney was in the path of a tornado.  Lets face it , some if it is about rateings, or all of it . If rateing drop or a low hurricane session , they can alwyas pull out  the old katrina foot age.  Yes, I am mad about the hype, but there does need to be a common sence balance , yes, they can cry wolf to many times , but better safe and overprepared than sorry ,  gee we could go with the terroist colors , mabey we can get them cheap now . kg4ymc

Hi, folks, the recent thurnderstorms got me thinking about something that happen to my dads hunting compass after a thunderstorm . He had a compass that he used for hunting that sat on a gun case at our old house in ocala. Central fla is lightning ally I guess. Anyway, guess during a lightning storn his compass got reversed and read true south . ha  ah..He used to get a kick out of showing it to his hunting buddys , and even used it , my mom and I laughted that if a hunter fo found him in the woods and tried to use it . Anway wonder if anybody ever had anthing like that happen? lightning is strange stuff .  Just funny story .. kg4ymc  don't know if mom still has compass , anymore..
