The only thing that's not stock is that silly 9 pin Amphenol/WPI Series 86 "octal" plug on the back.
Can't find that plug ANYWHERE!
==========
First, get the right Amphenol/WPI part number -- so that you can talk to "old school" parts distributors/dealers.

ALSO, be aware some suppliers categorize the part under tube scokets, rather than connectors.

Give a call to these suppliers:

Leeds Radio (NY), since 1923!
http://www.leedsradio.com/parts-connectors.html
Amphenol 86-CP9, 9 pin, same pin circle as the octal.
This is used as the chassis mount power connector (male) on the Collins 51-S1 receiver.  $9.00

Leeds also has the female (cable) side listed under tubes sockets. The female socket is Amphenol 78S9

Just across the northern Illinois border, along Lake Michigan is my favorite place for parts to restore the boatanchors:

Chester Electroncis Supply
(E.M. Cheek)
7709 Sheridan Rd
Kenosha, WI 53143
(262) 658-4616

Active Kenwood TS-440S gourp on Yahoo.  25 watts?

What mode?  What band?
What are you using to determine this?
Bird wattmeter?  Transmitting into a dummy load and not an antenna?

Vanity HQ reports that Mr. James Martin, KI4DTV who posted this review changed his call sign twice, since this posting.  First to AI4IK and then to K4KOR when he moved to Tennessee from Alabama in 2006.

1327  eHam Forums / Elmers / Alpha-Delta DX-CC dipole, what I'd like to do. on: December 28, 2007, 08:55:04 AM
IF you are going to go the window/ladder line line approach -- then use the proper balun (ratio) - likely 4:1

It seems that I am collecting antennas (HV2, GR5V, Cushcraft traps) from local amateurs that have been "buying" their way through antenan testing (BTW -- unless you have unlimited money sources, "rich" -- not a route for the poor or financially challenged amateur).

An 80/40 fan dipole or even an 80/40 trap dipole shoudl fit the bill for your antenna needs.  I agree with earlier posts -- why even buy an Alpha pre-built if you are then taking it apart.  It is just wire and insulators !!

Wind load data for various antennas

BTW, the brake on the HAM II is not as good as later models.  IF you send your rotator to Norm's for rebuild -- they can address (if you reqeust) that issue -- requires exchange of outside casting to fit newer brake.

1329  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / Alpha 76CA Questions on: December 04, 2007, 12:00:34 PM
I have an identical Alpha model to yours (no Hypersil BTW), that I restored (currently not at operating position).  One problem these models had with the control/HV board was with a couple of resistors being a bit undersized in wattage (if you see a cracked or burnt resistor that is a bad sign).  K9EWJ(sk) the original owner of this amplfiier had that problem in the early 1980s (after 2 trips to Alpha) -- problem was a cracked resistor on that board.
When I get back home, I will try to pull out my restoration notes, etc.

Marshall -

I just checked and I converted this identical "6027" speaker (ivory colored) this past summer.  The 12 watts of audio from that internal amp will be loud enough!!

Glad I bought my 500 foot roll when it was only $17 ... yes copper prices are significantly higher.

1334  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / ALPHA 77 Help Needed on: November 06, 2007, 04:24:05 AM
Joe -

The Alpha 77 is a serious amplifier (8877) ... and will require a dedicated 240 VAC circuit -- if that is too much for you -- sell it -- there are pwople lookign for this ampfliers (at least 3 or 4 "wanted" postings on Alpha web site)

Dick Byrd, N4UQ is a good resource and acutally has rebuilt some real basket bases.
