Ed, in answer to a couple of your questions.
First, when I read the TR-4 manual in the tuning section it talks about setting the bias current at .1 amp by adjusting the xmtr gain. I have adjusted the xmtr gain and I have moved the variable resister controlling the bias on the ps and have not gotten any increase of plate amps. This makes me think I have no bias current at all. I have not yet unplugged and opened the ps to follow the procedure of testing voltages.
And, on the topic of soldering. I have soldered a few microphone connectors and some other small things, but I haven’t done anything of this magnitude. I want to get a different rig to use as my main rig and try a small soldering project and then try working on the power supply.
