1  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: Still No Ammo on: April 26, 2013, 04:44:50 PM
It is a good thing I reload. Squirrel-cong weekend starts tomorrow. Whoopie! Grin Grin I don't use .22 rimfire. The AR will go through at least 300 rounds.
2  eHam Forums / Amplifiers / RE: Bought a brand new Ameritron AL80B 1KW amplifier... on: April 07, 2013, 07:11:42 PM
I have never used the ALC with my 746 Pro and my Al-80B. I have the RF Power on the 746 set to 100 watts or less. Give it a try into a dummy load.

I also rotate my tube in my AL-80B. The original Eimac and my spare Taylor have never had an issue. I did go several years without rotating and when I put the new Taylor (the spare I had on the shelf for several years), it worked without issue.

Welcome, Brian.
6  eHam Forums / Boat Anchors / RE: Age old question: Replacement finals for TS-830S - (JAN) GE 6146W OK? on: April 20, 2012, 03:11:32 PM
RF Parts states that the GE 6146W is NOT interchangeable with 6146B. Not recommended for Kenwoods.

I use the Sylvania-ECG/Phillips 6146W for my Kenwood 820S with about 125 watts output. My original 6146Bs tubes became backups when they starting putting out 100 watts last year.

8  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: What is the obsession with "great audio" when transmitting? on: January 30, 2011, 02:22:01 PM
So maybe their goals are not DX oriented.

This is a *hobby* and as such, there are many paths that different individuals may desire to take in the pursuit of happiness.

As long as it does not violate the rules and regs, I don't see a problem here, matter of fact there might even be something new and desirable come of it someday, something that conceivably could become the standard in future offshelf rigs and such.

I cannot understand the inflexibility some exhibit over such trivial matters as this one.

Have FUN and 73

I totally agree. It is a HOBBY! Have fun!  Smiley

Tom, W8JI, says they are OK to use, therefore they are good to use. He's the MAN!
11  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: CLOCKS on: July 16, 2010, 03:25:52 PM
My HVAC thermostat has a clock. Even my watch has a clock. Why not put one in a radio? It seems like a simple idea. My guess is that it is too simple an idea to be put to use in ham radio. Who uses a clock anyway? Roll Eyes
12  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: CLOCKS on: July 16, 2010, 09:25:18 AM
Why is there no clock in any of the new fancy rigs or even the others? My iPod has a clock. Shocked

What did Obama have for breakfast? A thinking America needs to know if he uses double-ply or single-ply.
15  eHam Forums / Misc / RE: The last of the real Radio Shacks... on: May 11, 2010, 08:10:12 PM
I even built one of those Dynaco FM-3 stereo tuner kits.
