Some one told me that you need less wire if you use eletrical wire with the insolation on it is this true. I am making a 40 mtr dipole and cut each of my sides to 32' 4" and feeding it with RG8X. to get the RF out of the shack. BTW I had a 8' grd rod put in and gnd the radio and tuner. I am running it on the 40 mtr phone (7.225-7.3 MHz) Kristyanna K6KAV

I WAS TOLD that you should not use the telephone gnd. hammer in a 8' gnd rod outside the nearest window from your shack. and run #10 wire. if you used the telephone gnd you can feedback though the phone (TVI)

I have been off HF for 17 yrs and due to an accident I am disabled and my memory is not what it used to be I need to know what bands 160-10 are best to operate at what times. I know 20 Mtrs is open during the day. and 40 is open early in the nite just after sunset and before midnite. All I have right now its a very short wire antenna. I am building the funds for the parts for a V dipole. what the length is going to be I do not Know yet. I have two trees 65 feet apart in a straight line. I just got 500' of #12 Strand copper wire and I have several instlators. I have 50 ft of RG8X to run into the house I live in a All metal Trailer. Sould I put up a 10' 1.5 inch galvnized Pole on the far side of my Trailer from the trees so it like a horzontal V dipole. I have a Tokyo Hy-Power Tuner. any recomdations?
