Are you a member of the Armed Forces? If so, you will work your license through Military channels (5th Signal as I recall). If you are civilian I believe you will contact the Bundespost (Post Office) in your city as the Bundespost, when I lived there, was in effect the FCC. Things probably have changed however! If you're really interested, email me and I will forward to one of several good friends in Germany and ask for their assistance.

If you'd like information regarding the noise generated by switching power supplies, check out the the "Product Reviews"/"Power Supplies" section on this website. A lot of the low rated switching power supplies generate noise, chirps, birdies, hash (whatever you want to call it), especially at 7.0 MHZ and below.

eHam Forums / Station Building / Kenwood TS-950SD vs. SDX

I am replacing my 25+ year old TS-820. I am looking at used rigs such as the TS-2000, TS-870 and TS-950. Does anyone know the difference between the TS-950SD and the TS-950SDX? I've found that even sellers can't explain the difference. I'd appreciate any info concerning any of these rigs. Bob.
