K7VO,
You really need to get over me, forget about me, or at least stop responding to my posts. You obviously dislike me, disagree with my observations so why do you persist? Knowing your type I'd be worried IF you agreed with my beliefs.
You are more than a little nutty. If my beliefs are so misguided why associate with me? Says something about you if it's true.
Think you can save me? - prove to yourself you are worthy or superior? Another nutty female trick that never works. Yeah tell me you've saved some guy in the past. LMAO
I know everything about your kind, K7VO. Move on.

Comparing the FT857D and FT897D which is best not considering portability/size differences?
Some posts state these radios are terrific, others state they are awful with poor audio despite the DSP. Who is right or is it just subjective? Thanks

Why do they keep making radios with greater complexity?
I don't need a radio that does does everything but groom the dog; I don't want a radio that takes five days to read and understand the manual; I don't want a radio that doesn't work right out of the box because it is too complex to begin with. (Besides they usually end up with weaknesses in one of the four major areas; receive audio, transmit andio, intermod protection, overheating. Who wants a radio that has 1000 memories and 10 ghz frequency coverage but poor intermod protection?)
I wanted to purchase a Yaesu FT7800R so I downloaded and read the manual - now I don't want it any longer - and the FT7800R is their simplest dual band mobile to use. The FT8800R and the FT8900R are WORSE!
Wasn't technology supposed to make life easier or simpler? Am I missing something? The ham radio manufactures have gone insame. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. Why can't they make simpler radios that work well?

From internet sites I've gotten the following list of currently working LEO satellites for FM, and CW/SSB:
RS 12/13 CW/SSB UO 14 FM Voice RS 15 CW/SSB FO 20 CW/SSB AO 27 FM Voice FO 29 CW/SSB FM AO 51 FM Voice ISS FM Voice
However I have since learned that RS12/13 is out of control or non-operational so apparently the above list is not current.
Can anyone tell me the best CURRENT low earth orbit satellites or Oscar satellites to use for FM, or CW/SSB? Finding current infomation on the internet is difficult. Thanks for your time.

Anyone know how to program tone frequencies in the Icom ICT2H. So far when I program it and return to Memory mode the tone indication disappears. Since I have not been able to access repeaters with tones I assume I am doing this incorrectly. Any help is appreciated. AB7JK

Are there any websites that provide a primer for ham satellite communications? I'd like to learn about azimuth, height above ground, elevation, and how to get started in satellite comms. Also info on equipment needed and the science behind it all. Trouble is most info I've found is fragmented and incomplete such as questions in forums which do not provide a coherent understanding of the subject.
Any help is appreciated. AB7JK

Until I am able to obtain a 2M base antenna I want to use my 2M mag mount on the second floor of my house. Trouble is there is no magnetic/metallic surface to mount it on.
Is there a way to get around this to make the antenna usable in this situation? AB7JK

I was in a store this afternoon and the guy didn't know what a 6 foot cable with 1/8" plugs at each end was.
Still it's worth paying 300% too much if it saves having to wait three days for an item to arrive.
I'm getting misty eyed.
I often wonder whatever happened to the 'Hams at Heath'? Died off, frozen in a meat locker, went to Ameco? Life is full of mysteries....
Hey the guy who mentioned the Frye stores was making a joke. Hams are getting dumber all the time. AB7JK

Packet is used on 2 meters. PSK-31 is used on HF and you don't need Signalink or any other contraption. The signal is encoded and decoded by your computer with the soundcard used for audio in and outputs. All you need are cables and a ground connection between the radio and the computer. Most programs like Digipan and Hamscope are free to download. AB7JK

LOL Gorilla.
So which are you? The rigid right wing Nazi, the porn viewing lowlife who needs to bag a babe and snort a line every 20 minutes, or hopefully something in between? Hard to find anyone any longer not in those two groups behind closed doors. Still it will make sorting things out alot easier at the end.
Don't have a license yet - study the code a few days! Are you really a gorilla or is that just a nickname? I didn't know gorillas were kept in the cities except some zoos.
LMAO - AB7JK
