Nice link - thanks.
Try rv.net. Technology fotum. Lots of Hams who RV there.
Using the ladder with a ground strap to the chassis seems to be popular. You can usually run wires from the roof to the inside down the fridge vent.

I have had good luck with the larger 2M or 2/440 glass mount antennas over the years.
Why not go with a trunk lip mount on the rear hatch of the explorer and a normal dual band antenna? Trailer hitch mounts are nice as well.

I had been in the market for an antenna to use on my company car and RV. Getting into the garage at home and parking garage at work were important, as was the ability to do something that I could move every few months onto various company cars.
I looked into quite a few models but for the height restrictions the best unit I could find was the shortest High Sierra.
I got good support from their pre-sales and ultimately ended up with different hardware from their standard that mates right up with most std antenna mounts.
I have it on a modified MFJ trunk lip mount until I can find something a little more heavy duty. I also used the HS hook up kit including their excellent ground wire which really helps get a good low-impedence body ground connection.
I was thinking about an automatic screwdriver tuner but so far have not needed it.

I am thinking of buying this unit. I could easily spend $15 in gas, parts and time to make this. Anyone bought one from W2ENY?
