Repeaters under automatic control must time out in a reasonable period of time as not to become "beacon"
It's also good operating practice to have a short time out timer on ALL transmitters.
I can site MANY times I've heard hams that have locked down their desk mics or set on their mics in the car and profanity, music, or other prohibited audio is going across the repeater.
ALL transmitters should be set up to time out to prevent this jamming of repeaters as well as prevent
burned up pa modules and or repeater PAs.
